Lacing Non-Drive Side 32 Spoke Rear Wheel | How to Build a Bicycle Wheel

Mike finishes up lacing the 32 spoke rear wheel by lacing the non-drive side. Note the parallel spokes that connect on each side of the valve hole. By now you might need to use a spoke wrench, screwdriver or nipple driver to help get the nipples on the spokes.

Beginning at 2:14 is what save me from going crazy. I spent 3 days messing up the non-drive side and could not figure out why. Thanks for the video.

I have confidence this chap is an excellent wheel builder, but his explanation paired with the shakey and vague camera work makes something that's already a little tricky way more complicated than it needs to be. Definitely one of the harder to follow wheel build videoss I've used.

I know this is an older post on this lacing, but I have referred back to this video and the drive side lacing video many times when I have needed to lace a new rim and hub. Simple straight forward instructions. Greta video, Mike.

Don't be stupid like me and listen to the comments. Non-drive side 1st spoke entry point is ~160 degrees not 180 degrees. If you do make it wrong then half the spokes will be in too deep the rim (max to the nipple). And you can only notice it once you start tightening all the nipples more.I had to re-lace the non-drive side to get it correct. Awesome tutorial. Thank you so much for posting this. So easy to follow along.

Thanks Mike, great video and explaining as you go along. like everyone else the only one problem was on the start of the non drive side but it was quite obvious . I had tried someone else's pdf and video instruction on a front wheel and it took me several hours to get it right. A good instructor always makes the job easier. Thanks.

Great video. However, on my hub it wasn't straight-forward at all which hole to put the spokes through to come out through the "larger gap". Also the first non-drive side spoke that goes next to the valve hole was NOT opposite the other spoke but at about 160'.
So it took a while for the prophecy to self-fulfill on my wheel!

I started out wrong where the parallel spokes were not inline with the presta outlet so I havd to start over but I just finished my first wheel EVER! 3.5 hrs total time for front 32 spoke 26" wheel. :)
