At last, someone who knows how to lace a wheel properly - innies == pullers (trailing); outies == pushers (leading).

Several otherwise-good YouTube videos on this subject propose that "innie" spokes should be pushers and "outies" should be pullers. For a front wheel (or either wheel on a BMX), no worries - but for a rear wheel to be used with derailleur, then always lace it as per this video.

If you need to know why, then find yourself a copy of "The Bicycle Wheel" by Jobst Brandt.

I believe the first spoke shoud be in the right side of the valve hole
