Non-Relativistic Explanation for Gravitational Redshift

Space is filled with a form of matter, and due to gravity, every massive body maintains a dense region of this matter around it. The density of this matter is greater near the body and decreases with distance. We know that light travels more slowly in a medium, and in a denser medium, light travels more slowly than in a rarer medium. So, when we apply this principle, light travels more slowly near the body and speeds up as it moves farther from the body. In a medium, light's wavelength becomes shorter (this explains the slowing down of light in a medium), and as the density of the medium decreases, the light's wavelength increases. This can help explain the gravitational redshift. In fact, gravitational redshift or blueshift is not experimental evidence for general relativity; rather, it provides evidence for dense space-filling matter near massive bodies.
