🐟 Salmon Steak with Broccoli 🥦
There was a time when cooking felt overwhelming—like I had to make something complicated to prove I could cook. But one day, I decided to make something simple: salmon steak with broccoli. I didn’t expect much, but when I sat down to eat, something unexpected happened. The meal was comforting, familiar, and satisfying in a way that went beyond just the taste. It was like finding peace in the simplicity of it all.
That moment of realizing that food doesn’t have to be fancy to be meaningful stuck with me. Over time, I’ve learned that meals like this can be a reminder to slow down, take a breath, and appreciate the little things. And now, this recipe is one of my favorites to make when I need something light, healthy, and grounding.

🛎️Ingredients:
• 3 salmon steaks
• 2 broccoli crowns
• 3 tbsp olive oil
• Zest of ½ a lemon
• Juice of ½ a lemon
• Juice of ½ a medium orange
• 1 garlic clove, minced
• Pepper to taste
• 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
• For garnish before baking : Lemon slices, Fresh rosemary, Fresh thyme, Red pepper flakes, Dried parsley
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Salmon:
Cut out the center bone and loosen the skin on the sides. Wrap each salmon piece into a circle and secure with cooking twine.
2. Prepare the Broccoli:
Wash and cut the broccoli into florets.
3. Assemble the Dish:
Place the salmon circles in an oven-safe dish and arrange the broccoli florets around them.
4. Make the Sauce:
Mix olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, orange juice, minced garlic, pepper, and balsamic vinegar. Adjust salt if needed (I didn't add salt because balsamic is salty) Pour evenly over the salmon and broccoli.
5. Add Garnish:
Top each salmon piece with a lemon slice, add fresh thyme, place rosemary sprig between the salmon pieces, and sprinkle red pepper flakes and dried parsley over the entire dish.
6. Cook the Salmon:
You can bake the salmon and broccoli at:
• 450°F (232°C) for 12–15 minutes for a faster cook with slightly crisp edges.
• 385°F (195°C) for 25 minutes for a gentler, more even cook.
Both methods work, but 385°F helps retain the salmon’s moisture and ensures the broccoli doesn’t overcook. Finish with 1–2 minutes under the broiler for added crispiness. (This is how I like it to cook)
🌟 Benefits:
• Salmon is rich in omega-3s and high-quality protein.
• Broccoli provides fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants
• Citrus enhances flavor while keeping the dish light.
