No matter how many times I watch this video, that touching tribute to Roy just punches me in the feels. There will never be a supergroup like this one.

The Wilburys stemmed from George Harrison looking for a B side for one of his singles off Cloud Nine. He and Jeff Lynne had an idea and were going to record it, Roy Orbison was coming along to watch but they had no studio. Bob Dylan lent them his, and Tom Petty joined in when George went to pick his guitar up from Tom's house. The song became Handle With Care and was deemed too good for just a B side and they'd had such a blast doing it they decided to write more songs and release an album, thus the Wilburys were born.

I was 19 and working at Disneyland (1988). My lead asked if anyone wanted to go usher at the Fantasyland Theatre. I volunteered.

The show I got paid to see was Roy Orbison! He played two shows! I did not know the name. After hearing him sing Crying, I was hooked. After work I raced to Tower Records in Brea and bought two Roy CD’s immediately.

One of the best shifts I had working there!!!

This song takes me back to a road trip my family took through the piss backwater of Saskatchewan in the late 80s. This song came on the dinky FM radio, and I was mesmerized. I knew who none of these artists were, but I was entranced by the smooth lyrical tones and the folksy blues rock.

seeing that guitar in the chair as a placement for Roy Orbison is sublime

A song with a very special meaning to me. A friend sent it to me, saying: "don'#t make no fuzz, man!" That was, after my wife had got killed in that car accident. I had never looked at this song that way.
Must be dusty in here.

When asked what is like to have the best voice in pop music he answered. "I don't know, you'd have to ask Roy Orbison"

My whole life I’ve been mystified by Jeff Lynne’s voice—it instantly makes me weak in the knees every single time I hear it. It’s like he has the voice of the sexiest man I could ever conjure in my imagination… I can’t put my finger on what exactly this quality in his voice is, but he has it. No other singer I can think of has this effect on me, but Michael Hutchence is a pretty close second.

My voice is uniquely mine, yes. I started playing organ in 2nd grade, tuba in 4th grade. I eventually played in All Southern Cal Honor Band, All Western States Honor Band, UCLA band, orchestra and jazz esemble, took master class from Tommy Johnson (first call LA session movies and tv, he played the ominous 2 note theme that opens Jaws) and was conducted by Roger Wagner and Oliver Nelson in Royce Hall on Tuba. Played in a church and local rock bands on keyboards, with many talented and skilled players. I had about as cool a life in music as you cab have without quitting the day job. But ... my singing voice is just not good. I struggle to hit the pitches and even if I do, one person said, "Just because you can hit the pitch doesn't mean anyone wants to hear you. I am sad that I can't sing, but have been advised by serious pros to never never sing. Maybe I could have learned, but was too busy playing behind people who could, including the LA Master Chorale and numerous local pros. Not complaining, just pointing out that not only is everybody's voice unique, so is their ability. Just happy I could play well enough that they let me on stage with them.

It's a great song - I feel - because it has the rhythm of a train.
