Thank you for posting this detailed and thorough video! It is great for those who have no experience working with the items described. I like that you explain the process and show everything step by step. Disregard those who want a 2 minute video of just the highlights - they have the attention span of a fruit fly.

For those insisting on always using teflon tape - these are not pipe threads - they are flare fittings. The sealing occurs on the metal-to-metal flare surfaces, NOT along the threads, so teflon tape not only does not seal on those threads, if you screw up and get some down onto the smooth flare section it might make a leak more likely. If you want to use it as a thread lube, or are especially worried about thread corrosion and like it as a sort of dry anti-seize that's up to you, but understand what kind of fitting you are dealing with before making a universal pronouncement like ALWAYS use Teflon tape. It has nothing to do with creating a good seal on an undamaged flare fitting! (Which is the reason that any set of instructions for replacement of a component in a flare-fitting system ought to include a quick inspection of the flare surfaces you are about to mate for damage - unlikely in this case, but a moment with a mirror and flashlight is all it takes to look at the regulator side ...)

Just a mention. Great job with replacing pigtails. Always replace the main flexible hose from the bottle two way V/V to the camper. The rubber always deteriorates with time, heat, cold and sun light. Stay

Crimped connection does need replacement, but it looks like tightening the inside nut on OTHER end of pigtail MAY be tightened at inside nut. I'm trying that rather than buying a new LEAKING pigtailed (from China)! Brand new rv & pigtail leaks! What a world!
Thanks 4 info.. good demo...
Sorry some viewers have NO PATIENCE!

I always close my other tank that's not in use. I found that out the hard way in the winter when it used up both really fast compared when I just left one open.

Safety note: Don't use the old hoses as a backup, the are hard and possibly leaking. If you want to keep a hose for standby, buy a new hose (or even a pair of hoses). When I replaced mine, I cut the old hoses close to the attachment point at the valve, it made removal much easier.

I know, this is an old vid. If someone is viewing at a later date, they should know, those threaded brass fittings are 1/4" Inverted Flare, not, 1/4" Pipe. This needs to be known when buying the proper pigtails.

Tried this last night, sprayed with soapy water after install & getting bubbles on the new connection. Going out to try again this morning. Hoping I am not ruining anything. Wish me luck. Don't want to make another 40 mile round trip to fix again (I live out in the country).

Ok, when I ordered the pigtail online from Walmart, I got one with a smaller connection into the diverter, so I bought a brass adapter to fit the smaller pigtail end, and, wow, I found a sort of check valve with a spring, ball bearing, & plastic sleeve fell out. Now I don't know how to reinstall the check valve, which may be important to draining tank separately.
The plastic tank cover presses the hose downward, causing a leak at the pigtail joint near the tank valve.
What an ongoing mess!

Are there different size openings at the actual gas opening itself where the new gas line connects to the tank where the green connector part is. I ordered new hoses on A and the looking at open holes on the green part it’s quite a bit smaller on the new ones. I’ve been trying to get the right part now for 2 weeks. Even an RV parts store incorrectly ordered parts initially with. “Flare tip” vs NPT tip. I’m just trying to match up pictures and hope for the best. I figure I have a 50-50 chance as a newbie. But I did notice this difference in the gas connection hole. Why isn’t everything STANDARDIZED. ????
