In this video, I show how I modified my 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 2.0 backpack. There are many things I like about the 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 2.0 backpack but a few things I don't. Overall, I think the 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 2.0 backpack is a great backpack and I highly recommend it.

In part 2 of this series, he cuts the bag in half to increase ventilation. Hey, I posted this comment because you have a good sense of humor, bud

Thanks for the share, Adrian! Great video.
Don't listen to the haters. Some folks only do missionary style, never bothering to hit it from a different angle :D
While I personally wouldn't have cut or removed anything straps or otherwise, I totally understand the utility in some of it. I am always adding or removing modifications or looking for "a better way to do it" with all of my EDC, so permanent removal of any option that comes stock on the bag would likely leave me with regret later on.
I really like the thumb loops on the straps. That is indeed an idea I will be borrowing. As far as the internal zipper pulls the length has never been an issue for me, but the color has. I replaced the zipper pulls with bright yellow paracord pulls.
I'm always interested to see how others modify their bags so I will share one of my "go to" mods that I will forever do to every bag. I add a small stainless-steel keyring the same size as the ones that come on a Swiss army knife, to all of my exterior dual zippers. This simply gives me the option of adding luggage locks to my bag. It's not theft proof but makes it harder for a thief to get in to.

5:00 ...I rolled up my strap into itself and used a Ranger Band (cut bike inner tube) as a Strap keeper. Its out of the way, on the bottom

I thought I was the only one who modified their backpacks. Nice

Nice that I found this videos. I also got rid of 2 side buckles which hinder me access to side pockets and main room. I think it is completely pointless to have those, unless it is rush 72.

The thumb loop idea was really good, I don't get why you have so many salty people in the comments though. You bought the bag and tailored it to your liking; I don't get what the issue is.

17:03 melting close to nylon, I recommend sliding an old credit card or something similar behind the strap you're melting to prevent accidentally burning anything. also means you can get much closer.

I like your mods. I've done a few of the same to my 5.11 packs. However, I also cut out the laptop pocket, as I never carry a laptop in my bags. I also cut off the compression straps because they always prevent me from closing the bag easily. Now I just buy First Tactical bags, because there is no laptop pouch and the compression straps are removable. And full clam shell opening! So much better.

My god man, you’ve used creativity and ingenuity to make something work better for your needs, what the hell is wrong with you! Some good mods, enjoyed the vid. 👍 Been modifying my bags last 8 yrs. One I recently started doing after getting tired of the bottom wicking water when I set it down in rain or snow, is using clear flex seal on the bottom. I mask it off with tape just above bottom seam and spray it. Allow to dry well (24-48hrs), then I spray with Kiwi Camp Dry. The 5.11 bags are pretty water resistant, but I like the added protection. I also modify inside pull straps, and eliminate unnecessary crap.

Any of you tried to lower the chest strap. I was thinking to cut the plastic clips and use split rings or some type of replacement and lower the strap down a couple of rows.

I got myself a Hazard4 "Drawbridge" backpack and replaced all the zipper drawstrings with survival paracord, the string with like 10 different strands of....STUFF....

The backpack straps you modified with paracord is a nice idea but the Drawbridge's straps came with a velcro loop so you can fold the excess length of strap over itself and just tie it down so it stays rolled up/folded.

Those “thumb holes” you add: I add something similar but out of shock cord (two of them) to hold either a water bottle or trekking poles.

I ended up cutting the “flap/divider” between the front/top pocket to make it “wider”; it’s a common complaint.

If you put that same heat around the perimeter of the knot, you can firm up and lock down the knot. It will never slip loose. It will also never untie but we all have spare cordage anyway so…

Can I wash and machine dry my 5.11 tactical bag?

How to quickly ruin a $120.00 backpack... 5.11 must love this video... new repeat sales are going up... due to people melting holes into their perfectly good backpacks... but... it is hilarious to know that allot of people will actually try this at home... smh... a large black metal key ring actually makes a decent thumb pull for the straps... no destruction of the bag needed lol
