5.11 Rush 24 1.0 VS 2.0

There is a lot of hype over the new Rush 2.0 bags, but are they worth it? Here is my review of the 2.0 Rush 24 comparing it to the original 1.0 bag.

I returned my 2.0 today for a reason not discussed in many videos OR on the 5.11 website -- the lack of a pass-through between the hydration compartment and the main compartment. This is crucial to me. Also the lack of "antenna" pass throughs up top, which are actually better for routing the hydration hose. On the 2.0, you can only put a bladder in its dedicated area. I liked that I could put a larger bladder (or other wired gear) in the main pocket of the 1.0. Nobody discusses this. It's a significant fail in my opinion. They probably did it to make room for the expanded eyewear pocket. It really turned me off of the 2.0, which leaves me bagless as my 1.0 is really wearing out after 15 years.

It sounds to me like you need a bigger rucksack my friend! Might I suggest the 5.11 "rush72"
It's much more spacious so the side pouches don't crunch in on the main compartment.

you are right. I also still prefer version 1.0. of the 2 only interests the hidden pocket. not worth buying if you already have v1.0. in fact, I prefer to have the tanka zipper bag over the computer sleeve. anyway, my computer always goes with its case. I do not care if they put a foundation for that or not. and in rush 24 I also prefer to have that tanka bag and another mesh one. in short, 5.11 did not do his homework (except for the hidden pocket). They could have improved the back ventilation (like direct action dragon egg for example). I expect real improvements in the rush series v3.0.

It's not a problem having a few extra bags....when your using them....
It is a bag problem, when they sit in the closet and not used.

When did the 2.0 come out ?? 2020 ?? 2021 ??
I have the 1.0 for over a year...and love it better than my maxpedition vulture II 3 day pack.

This is gonna be a big issue for alot of large laptop users.

Congratulations for this great video ! Do you know what i did when the 2.0 came out ? Well, I RUSHed to buy the 1.0 version (with a big bargain🤩) ! The three 2.0 improvements : larger sunglasses pockets (great !), laptop compartment (not so handy and versatile, as you show it !), CCW pouch ( you already have pb to use it with an empty main compartment, imagine with a full one ! And I also wonder what's happening there under rain with just a velcro closure). Let's see the 1.0 pros : 2 pouches instead of the padded compartment, 1 more zip on a mesh pouch, 1 more keyholder, anti slip patches on the back, draining holes on the main compartment and on the bladder compartment (apparently, water and humidity are good for laptop😜), 2 outlets for bladder hoses instead of 1 and placed also for a aversatile access to the main compartment. Well, for me, 5.11 should have proposed an urban version of the rush (the actual 2.0) and work on a real 2.0 (admin pouch, less weight with cordura 500 on some part, hook and loop panels, new colors...).

I'm in the same position with this bag. I'm looking at either the Rush 24 2.0 or an OGIO Renegade RSS for a new computer bag.

I already have the original Rush 24, Rush 72, The Moab 10 etc...and I dont know if spending another $100 is justified for a laptop sleeve lol. I think 5.11 should convert the water bladder compartment on the backside into a laptop sleeve. And if we're going with that logic. I'd assume the Rush 24 ver 1.0 is still better lol. Great review!

v1.0 has grommets on the bottom for drainage. v2.0 does not have grommets.
