“The hair loss AND the [facial] hair growth are the worst parts of PCOS for me.” “They make me feel less feminine,” her voice trailed off as she averted her eyes.

Have you ever felt this way?

Unrealistic beauty standards and societal pressures aside, what she brought up is something I think a lot of people with PCOS experience: a sense that this condition diminishes the outward expression of their womanhood.

There’s a lot there to unpack. More there than we have time for in a single video, but I hope at the very least having read the words above, you know you’re not alone if you’ve ever felt this way. hope you have a safe place (a therapist, good friends, a support group, something) to explore those emotions.

In the meantime, you and I are going to take a look at the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about hair loss and facial hair growth. We’ll also talk about conventional treatments and some natural/ lifestyle-based interventions to consider.

I’m experiencing hair loss AND I already have a full beard. I literally don’t want to go out anymore.

I almost cried when you said that we're not eating enough because my doctor told me to eat less and exercise more. I was so obsessed with that thing and I felt guilty for eating even a little bit extra. This was definitely an eye opener for me. Thank you for this!!!

Thank you so much for this! I’ve recently been diagnosed with PCOS after years of suspecting I had it. In the last couple of days I’ve noticed the hair on my scalp thinning (it wasn’t very thick before anyway), particularly on one side right at the front. I went into such a panic, frantically googling ways to grow my hair back, which brought me here so maybe that’s a good thing haha! Your video really helped to calm me down. I really need to make a change when it comes to my lifestyle and your video encouraged me to do that. Going to start learning more when it comes to managing insulin resistance and all the different ways I can help myself naturally. Thank you so much😊

Thank you so much for this information. I just returned to the mat and have always desired practicing with teachers who look like me. That's what drew me to your videos. When I saw that you also share content on PCOS, that was a plus. I have had hirsutism since middle school and have tried to navigate my health and life with it off and on for over 20 years...wow! Your videos have reenergized me into trying again with my health. It can be defeating and depressing. I'll keep trying. Thanks again!

Thank you for this video and your positive, non shaming attitude with PCOS! I’ve had symptoms since puberty and been diagnosed since I was 18. I started drinking spearmint tea, lowering my intake of sugar, and increasing my nutrients and fiber (especially learning to include ground flax seed.) I still have hirsutism but I feel more at peace with my body. ❤

I started seeing facial hair since I was in 9th grade . As I get older it gets worse and grows so fast . I tried telling a doctor about it a few years ago and she said "I get that too. It's normal" her face was so clear and had 0 hair . She couldn't see what I was talking about, because I literally shaved before even leaving the house . Same with most of the females in my family .

I'm tired of Dr's devaluing my struggles and their only solution is to lose weight . I did lose a lot of weight at one point, and that didn't change anything . Most of my skin problem's come from ingrown hairs or from shaving so much 😒 . Dark spots and scars from it . If I didn't have this problem with facial hair, my skin would be clear . I don't want to keep going through this and feeling less feminine and shaving every day 🤦🏽‍♀️ .

(Just ranting 😭🤕)
