After many requests, it's time to finally answer the questions: OBS Studio vs SLOBS - what's the difference? Who should use which? Does StreamLabs OBS actually perform better? This video should have everything you need to know.

This video answers why there's no studio mode, NDI plugin support, Stream Deck support, etc. in SLOBS. Plus, I give a detailed explanations as to the differences between the two programs and how/why they handle things differently. This should be very useful for anyone looking to choose between the two.

I found that OBS Studio runs faster and smoother without damaging game fps as much as slobs.

Thank you for this! I have tried both and for me the original obs works so much more eaiser then the streamlabs version and now I have more of a better understanding why. ☺

It's amazing how far SLOBS has come since this video. That's only 2 years ago!

I've been with OBS for several years. I plan on trying slobs and having both systems in my tool box. Probably best to keep up our training with each and maintain the ability to pick and choose based on the situation. Nice to know there are two flavors available just in case one goes away unexpectedly - seems unlikely, but you never know. Plus, as long as there is open source OBS, the commercial versions can never get too expensive. I hope both versions continue to thrive. What would we do without them?? Thanks, EposVox. Your OBS training has been invaluable. I've watched the 50 vid series. I'm glad you are including StreamLabs in our tutelage . Best regards from WBIG.Tv in Buffalo NY.

Thank you! You made it very clear about the differences. The big takeaways for me is that SLOBS is a fork of OBS and the UI is developed with different frameworks. As an event video producer, not a gaming streamer, I need the functionality of OBS over the ease of setup and configuration that SLOBS provides.

Am I the only who noticed that at 3:00 there is an option to stream to Chaturbate?

I like to use SLOBS for twitch and Obs Studio for youtube streaming and just recordings.

I've been watching for months and only just realized I wasn't subbed... 85K?! Wtf man, this is some gold that many people are just... missing... anyway, subbed and belled. Ready to know about every future vid. <3

Personally, I will be switching over to SLOBS. I've used OBS since 2013 for game recording and streaming, and this just makes my life so much easier. I do like the idea that this was made for streamers, and am really happy that StreamLabs chose to do something more geared towards their current fans, or beginners by simplifying the entire setup/stream process from the original OBS and OBS Studio

Great insight between OBS Studio and Streamlabs OBS. I will continue to use both of them as they both have there strengths and weaknesses. Looking forward to the next vid. :-)

I really liked SLOBS, as it had everything integrated. But I tested streaming PUBG, Overwatch, Hearthstone, OSRS, & a few other games on both platforms. All in all, OBS stayed smooth, never dropped framerate, & used up to 30% less CPU power, letting me use VeryFast encoding at 720p 60FPS & getting a little bit better quality. My bitrate is also set to 5K btw. I'm happy with OBS & don't mind having a few browser tabs open. Still works better right now, so no need to switch!

I'm sure at this point you're aware, but the majority of their claim of SL-OBS using less CPU power is because it defaults to NVENC, encoder if NVENC capable hardware is detected. So it's offloading the encoding to the GPU. Bebo advertises lower cpu percentage using their very similar program, but they also don't openly state it defaults to NVENC (though admittedly, their vp9 encoder does indeed use less CPU power back when I tested their early alpha version before NVENC support was added, and it looks a little nicer than NVENC). Also, SL-OBS has recently added NDI support last I heard too, so that's nice.

To me I think SLOBS is easier to use but in the comments I see people liking OBS better. I don’t know which to choose because I am a noob at recording and stuff.

1.Streamlabs OBS use more cpu usage as compare to normal OBS but you can reduce cpu usage in SLOBS by enabling performance mode.
2. SLOBS is for decent or average processors, while OBS is for low end processors.
3. SLOBS make your livestream more professional by adding widgets or pre built banners and you get all your notifications, while in OBS you have to create your own banners and sometimes you don't get your notifications.
4. If SLOBS use less or equal processor usage as OBS, I think more and more people switch to SLOBS.
5. I prefer SLOBS over OBS If you have decent CPU, if not then OBS is there.
