Thank you for this interesting conversation! It helps a lot to care more for your faith. Regarding the attempt to explain the Holy Trinity, I would like to refer to St. Hildegard of Bingen ( prophetissa teutonica ), who has been declared as teacher of the church: in her visions she saw a candle stick.
" What do you see ?" - a candle
" What would you call in general? " - a light.
" What do you see ? " - a flame.
" and in general? " - light
" Can the candle be a candle? " - yes
" How would you know? " - by the flame.
" Does the flame be a flame alone? " - no, the flame exists out of the candle and makes it visible as light. Candle and flame together make the light.
" What do you see now? " - a piece of parchment.
Holding the parchment in front of the burning candle - " what can you see now?" - light.
" Can you give a more specific explanation " - a light.
" So you see the light shining through the darkness, like a lantern open to all sides.
So the candle is the light, but only become visible through the flame, shining through the darkness.
Discerned as three specific determinations, but only all the 3 make it THE LIGHT.

The Trinity. St Patrick explained this with the Shamrock. A tri-foil clover plsnt that only grows in Ireland. One plant, three leaves. Every schoolkid learned this. It's a simple analogy, but kinda works.
