My father was killed in the Kentucky tornado - BBC News

Katie Fields lost her father in the deadly tornadoes that hit multiple US states last Friday night. She spoke with him just moments before the storm hit.

They live in Dawson Springs, a Kentucky city devastated by the twisters. The death toll in the state has risen to 74.

What a horrible newscast. Now they're doing family tragedy. They won't report fathers killed in road accidents but tornadoes are so much more appealing

Why every home or neighborhood in these states don't have basements or storm cellars is beyond me.

I hope that she joins forces and helps with fighting future storms of this unknown intensity, so others don't lose their loved ones by something humans helped create by their own foolishness... let's stop this now.

They need to start mandating that all newly built houses have to have a basement people can go to in case of a tornado in these areas. Even if everything above ground is gone - at least people have a chance to survive in a basement. Things can always be replaced - lives cannot. R.I.P to all the victims.
