“I said add a blue square 5! 5! Pixels!!! To the left!!! God! Do you hear me you *^}^%”

That kind of vibe?

Seems good for building something that has been written thousands of time before

tried it, doesn't work.... unless you want a tetris game in python🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ve been doing this for a year now… it works for simpler projects that have a lot of functional elements that are represented to the user. However for complex backends, you could easily have an outcome that appears to be working but actually isn’t. Vibing needs to be paired with stronger testing agency to make it work well in all scenarios

Sounds like it would work best for only simple projects. All the examples I’ve seen on videos are usually nothing too complex or crazy. But it’s nice to know you could quickly build small helpful tools for your own use!

I am doing this from past many years even before this term vibe coding exits

I've been doing this as a non technical person, and have been able to build an mvp in no time.. this was of course after spending 300 hours in cursor learning how to interact with the model.

As of rn (end of Feb 2025) this can only work for EXTREMELY small and simple projects. AI currently can handle complex it large codebases. It starts removing code that is vital to the application and unrelated to the task it's currently trying to code and troubleshoot for NO reason. And/or it starts going in circles: trying to fix bug A it does fix B which causes bug C so it does fix D which causes bug A so it does fix B which causes bug C so it does fix D which causes bug A again. And so it gets stuck in an infinite loop of the same few bugs and fixes causing eachother.

Anyone who says they use only AI to code is either working only on TINY and simple projects or lying (or their code doesn't work and they don't care)

It’s frustrating when people don’t fully grasp how quickly technology, especially AI, is advancing. I think some people are stuck on outdated notions or experiences with older AI systems that weren’t as capable, which makes it hard for them to see how fast things are evolving. The difference between AI five years ago and now is huge, like you said. Tools like Gemini or Sora can generate things we could only dream about not too long ago.

AI in its current form may still have its limitations, but it’s clear the potential is growing fast. The fact that it can generate things as complex as videos of an astronaut riding a horse on the moon shows just how far we’ve come, and you’re right—within a few years, AI could very well surpass human coding abilities in speed and efficiency. It’s just that some people don’t see the trajectory and assume it’s stuck in one place.

The more we use these tools, the clearer it will be just how powerful they can become!

My experience is it can sketch out an MVP of sorts, but often goes into breaking/recursive loops trying to edit the code when aim to optimise and/or harden it, in order to get production(ish) grade deployable code.

Impressive, but you still need all the same skills and knowledge to finish it off, so actually hasnt been saving me a lot of time as yet.

Ive been doing this for ages since I'm not a coder haha, but actually 'vibe coding' helped me to learn more technical stuff when the technique didn't work so well. It forced me to dig deeper...hoping to continue the learning curve with AI coding through this technique! The biggest difference I've found from when I started to now is knowing how to articulate what I want, the more coding words and concepts I use with accuracy, the better the results.

I wrote full back-office monitoring for company project in angular python and database. I type, and not speak. I rarely read code. I fix only when indentation errors. 99 pct of code written that way. I sometimes read and tell it to refactor common pieces, and guide it where to put code. I wrote few key sqls manually, but most of all automatic. My change requests span backend and frontend at once, and typescript types reflect query response structure/json automatically. I have angular errors steamed into the immediate fix loop. I use aider and deepseek V3 or sonnet, but as I mature, I gain more skills and often go down to codestral or flash 2.0. this is not mission critical software, and coding like that is breathing fresh air. I am senior dev. Life is joy again. I am slowly automating all my operational processes via handmade MCP, and plan to activate always on voice assistant soon. I gonna be mastermind.

I'm totally into vibe coding, although in my case I don't really "speak" to the system verbally but rather type my prompt. Able to create complex fully working and debugged applications within 1 hr that would have taken several weeks of manual coding. I see this as the biggest disruption in the SW industry that I can recall.

I'm a dev but I've been doing this since AI started but this is good for small projects, for complex ones - good luck with that!
