Here’s hoping that this vote reflected more than Kansas women’s dirty little secret. Abortion is a medical procedure, not open season on unborn babies. It treats our mother’s miscarriages, our sister’s ectopic pregnancy, our daughter’s much wanted pregnancy with a 100% fatal anomaly, a 10-year-old pregnant from rape, and yes, our best friend’s pregnancy during college when birth control failed.

As a Kansan, voting has always felt like screaming into the void. Nice to see my vote finally counted for something.

I remember that video. It was about your friend who didn't know when to shut up, and a female friend who went "on vacation" after her fiance decided she was going to have to get used to him drinking with his buddies whenever he wanted.

As a woman who lives in rural Kansas and has for decades I had to laugh out loud when you named the two things we do best! As a side note, the mostly rural counties that voted to take away our reproductive rights won that majority by a slim margin. In some instances a very slim margin.

I saw a post somewhere that said no woman wants an abortion like they want a new dress. It’s more like the feeling of a trapped animal that chews it leg off to get out. Sounds about right to me.

Male voter in Kansas here that voted no. There were enough vote yes car stickers and yard signs to make me nervous. The vote yes party ran a dirty campaign with lots of misinformation and lies.

A few of my guy friends In red states have messaged me. “Hey, if my wife has an ectopic pregnancy, can she still have the pregnancy terminated? I don’t want to lose her.” or “If there’s complications and I have tho choose between the baby or my wife, I’m choosing my wife. Is that still legal?” So there are men realizing that this is going to affect them too

I grew up and live in a rural 70 30 County in Illinios. Hypocrisy and hiding and doing immoral things while one is young is definitely a thing. I also think far right Republicans will avoid these direct votes as much as possible because of this. I also expect them to do thier best to side step votes they lose. Changing judges or whatever it takes because they have no respect for the will of the people.

Going into it knowing polling had the Yes votes ahead at 47 and No at 43, I was prepared to see our state disappoint once again. I'm a very proud Kansan this week.

Yeah this was really no surprise to me, living in Kansas. A lot of people here would rather not declare their bias because they'd rather people not ask about it in the first place. Glad we can set a precedent for other states, though.

I thought straight away "oh they did exactly what Beau said they would do"
