Founded in 2017, Belarusian trio Molchat Doma (translated to "Houses Are Silent") stands at the intersection of post punk, new wave, and synth pop. Part of the Eastern European cold wave renaissance, Molchat Doma's music is reminiscent of old masters like Bauhaus, New Order, and The Cure while maintaining a sound that is immediately recognizable as all their own. With the grim precision of their drum machine, Molchat Doma's Audiotree Far Out performance within the historic Palmer House Hotel's Red Lacquer Ballroom, perfectly encapsulates the band's austere gothic prowess. I saw them play live two days ago in Berlin, and they were just fabulous, a brilliant sound, very energetic performance, and I also loved how they interacted with the audience, and the audience were superb as well, singing along and dancing (we have a large Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian community here and many of them were there, the venue was sold out). The concert was done very professionally but without being slick or smooth. I also loved the extended free-form electronic interludes and outros/intros between songs, which reminded me of the Zodiac Arts Lab, a late 1960s' electronic music venue in old West Berlin, from which emerged many pioneers of electronic music
