The advantage of server rack batteries is each one is a smaller investment if slowly expanding a system on a budget. It also gives you more flexibility should one battery fail. You still have the others until you can replace the failed unit.

I think server rack batteries actually make sense if you're limited on wall space, and (based only on anecdotal evidence) a lot of people are in their garage.

You need about 3 feet of wall space, and can stack them up to 24 or so U high with fairly short cables. A similar storage-value of vertical batteries would take a lot more horizontal space, with more cabling between. You could reclaim some wall space on the verticals by putting stuff in front of them, but then (among other issues) you might have to move it all for service.

In my garage, vertical batteries with inverter, etc would be kinda hard to fit in; a server rack would be comparatively easy.

The horizontal format lends itself to RV applications where vertical space is hard to come by. Also, with this format it's easier to start with one or two batteries, then add more incrementally if needs increase. Thanks for all your videos! I've learned SO MUCH from you and your instruction has helped me design a 48v system for my 5th-wheel.

Never Change Sir! The fact that the new batteries have such improved build quality is very exciting to me. Everytime I think that I have already 'missed the boat" by not yet getting a home system set up you come out with a "new" battery, or charge controller or charger or even a whole system and it just looks like things are getting better every day. Very good to hear!
