Just seasoned my first blackstone following these instructions! I’ll be honest don’t expect the top corners to be as black as the rest of the griddle. With that being said this is still a great method! Blackstone FTW

Hey brother. I appreciate your videos. I’ve wanted a blaskstone for years and my wife just bought me one for my 40th birthday. I was very anxious that I was gonna mess something up, but you helped me out a lot! Big fan and appreciate your attitude and helpfulness.

Seasoning right now as I type this. I was prepared to add the blackstone conditioner and do what every other seasoning videos says to do, but I was fortunate to watch this right before I did it. Your method of turning it off and applying an even layer before turning it on again makes more sense. And I don’t have to rush to get all the surface applied with the conditioner. Thank you.

Hey Matt, been watching for years. I have to say I was about to get rid of my 36” Blackstone because I could never get the seasoning right. Your method changed everything! I did my first cook since re-seasoning tonight (your pork chop recipe from the old house!) and, MAN, it’s a completely different griddle! Thank you, sir, your method made all the difference.

Original post 6/30/2024: Thank you for this! I got my 36" Blackstone several years ago and seasoned it with it on high all the time because that's the way it was shown to be done at that time. I remember being bothered by the griddle smoking as soon as I applied the seasoning and wondered if that was normal. That also made it hard to apply without it pooling up and burning before I had a chance to spread it thin. Your way of letting the griddle cool down before applying coats makes much more sense. I hadn't used my griddle for a long time and the entire surface became heavily rusty. I spent a couple of hours sanding it all down with four different grits of sandpaper to a bare metal smooth surface (including the inside and outside of the walls). Now I'm getting ready to re-season it in time for the Fourth of July. This time I'm going to use your method. Thanks again! Happy Fourth to you and yours!

Edited 7/2/2024: Yesterday, I spent about 2-1/2 hours re-seasoning my griddle with five coats following your process. The results were amazing, so much better than the first time around several years ago! I wish I could attach pictures. During the process, I took a digital laser thermometer and took temperatures of nine different zones of the griddle (three across the back, three across the middle, and three across the front). I found there was up to a 100-degree difference between the middle and the edges, especially the right side edge (this is not an Omnivore griddle). This may be due in part to the wind coming from that side. I did my best to put a tarp up as a wind screen, which helped some. So that side is a little lighter than the rest of the griddle, but now I know where to put food that I want to keep warm! I'm now ready for the Fourth and beyond!

So different than most people. Most get the grill piping hot, then apply a high temperature oil, let it burn off. Keep it hot, add more oil, etc etc.

That griddle conditioner has worked fabulously for me, and I find it easier than oil to apply the right amount👍😊
