'On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous' is such a beautiful book. It's like a privilege to read.

Both Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi and On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong are in my top 5 books of all time! The way they establish a pathway for the reader to become emotionally invested in the characters is something I can't get enough of. Also Vuong's poetry collection Night Sky with Exit Wounds is amazing. It's definitely one those collections where every word feels intentional and deeply nuanced.

haha February! I teach kids English as par-time job in Japan, and kids are always confused when pronouncing February by looking at spells and figuring out how to pronounce the word! and they are like "Feb-RU (lu) -A-ry (or ly).
Side note: there is no difference between R and L sound in Japanese! We only have L sound in terms of pronunciation, so often all the R sounds end up with L when pronouncing！😓
