I love your French pronunciation of "Suffragette."

I totally agree with you on North & South - I definitely have been heavily comparing it to P&P and I can't pick a favorite, lol. I was so surprised by how much I loved it! So excited to hear your thoughts!

Richard Osman grew up in Brighton his mother lives in a retirement home there which is where he got inspiration for his books.

Wild Seed was a my first book by Octavia Butler. One of my favourite books. Anyanwu and Doro are the main characters

I’m planning to read my first Octavia E. Butler this year! I’m super excited! I also like the challenge! I might try and adapt it for my own reading to challenge me to read more of my owned books.

I just read The Man Who Died Twice and loved it! I think the mystery was better than the first book, but the friendship building in the first is (obviously) better. Can’t wait to see your challenge vlog!

Dude, my first Octavia E Butler was a short story and it was dystopian sci fi set in another planet and had "Male Pregnancy"! The way she dealt with it was Wow.

I'm so curious of her next books.

I love the One Week, One Shelf challenge! I have a sci-fi book that I won't get to this month, so I can play along with that one. I also still need to get a copy of North and South, I've wanted to read that for years.

The Man Who Died Twice was so good! I hope you enjoy it. I laughed and (almost) cried.

North and South. One of my favorites. I saw the show first and loved it so much that I read the book, which is even better.

Love the one week one shelf vlogs. Looking forward to your reaction to Wild Seed. It was my introduction to Octavia E. Butler, and it has been a while since I reread it. I think it is time to pick it up again.

The only Octavia E. Butler I've ever read is Wildseed and I just hated it (which is why it has remained my only encounter with OEB so far 😅). So I'm really looking forward to your review of it because if you like it just as much as the rest of her work, then I know OEB is simply not for me.

BTW totally agree on North and South. Love that book to pieces and in my mind, it belongs to the same tier as Pride and Prejudice. I can also really recommend the BBC adaption!

Have you read Fledgling by Octavia E Buttler yet? The beginning was a little rough to get through!

I just read Are Prisons Obsolete and It's Not About The Burqa (got inspired by your non-fiction tbr) and I loved them both! They're really short and accessible and very thought provoking !

This is such a fun idea and a great way to get to some books that are often overlooked. Hope you have a great month and the pulls continue to be nice.

I really enjoyed The Richard Osman! It's one of my favourite cosy mystery novel series of all times now ☺ Definitely want to read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow this year too

The best of luck with your February TBR Emily- I'll be reading North and South next month for the classics book club. I've never read any of Octavia E Butlers works but The parable of the sower sounds intriguing.
