guys if you don’t want to buy the brush shaper, go and get a tub of Vaseline. It works well for shaping your brushes if you don’t have a lot of money to spend

All those who are mad about the Frisket which she said like everything under it is preserved,
She has made another video on trying it on a thicker paper to see if the Frisket works.
And yes it does✨️

Just a tip for anyone going to buy these items, the one that makes the paint dry slower is called a "retarder", it is a really handy tool
If you try to look up "medium retarder" you might have an easier time finding it online, and art supplies shops typically have these as well, usually it's called medium retarder, but it can be labeled differently
Another tip! It is not the same as "flow release", it's another additive that is really great when using acrylics, it thins the paint without watering it down
Hope that helps!

I used rubber cement because frisket was too expensive. Worked the same, but applying it was harder.

Masking fluid is the "secret sauce" for watercolor lace, hair, grass- anything with intricate designs or crisp edges! A rubber cement pickup is the perfect companion for that stuff, BTW- lifts everything without rubbing against the paper surface

My Drawing and Painting teacher introduced me to slow dry medium last year and it saved my LIFE. Seriously, not only did it make my paint thinner, but it also dried much slower! For sure one of the best art supplies I've ever used.

I love how theres so much random stuff you get from model painting, a lot of this is done just with different materials

Edit: Okay, I bought soap and used boiling water and all that, don’t worry. I actually compared all these to the brush shaper and yeah, best not to waste your money; just use some soap and hot water.

Where has brush shaper been my whole life?! Gonna go find this right tf now!

You're right. I had no idea these existed, and they solve so many problems I don't have.

• if you have a brush with synthetic bristles, you can reshape it pretty easily by dipping it in boiling water for no more than 10 seconds. The water will essentially melt the bristles just enough for them to be pliable, any longer than 10 seconds, and it’ll melt too much. Careful not to do this with natural bristles! The water will mess up the binding and kill your brush.

• Liquid frisket should be applied in thin layers, on strong paper like watercolor or multimedia. If the paper is too weak, it’ll tear when you try to take it off. Also, frisket should only be applied to clean paper! If you put it on top of other materials- say, putting it on top of inked line art, it will lift or tear that too! To remove frisket, you can *gently* rub with your finger or get yourself a rubber cement eraser (also known as a pick-up.) the frisket will stick to the rubber cement, so you can easily just tap (do not rub! Gently press.) it on the frisket until it’s all off the paper.

•slow dry medium/flow aid/retarder (that’s just what it’s called y’all idk) will also cause your paint to thin. Using too much can make your paint look watery, and also take too long to dry. A little goes a long way! There are also other mediums, like Matte or Gloss, that can affect the look and feel of your paint.

Bonus tip: synthetic brushes are best for watercolor and gauche, while Natural brushes are best for acrylic and oils.
