The Godzilla Minus One English Dub Has Everyone Saying The Same Thing

Godzilla Minus One has already built a groundbreaking reputation that far exceeded anyone's initial expectations. Just when the dust was clearing, the release of its English dub stirred even more positive feedback.

Bad dubbing is a HUGE reason why Godzilla movies have the goofy, mockery stigma on them. Was glad to see they put extra effort into the dub for minus one to not be made fun of as easily.

As a retired military guy the movie really got me because at it's core it's about honor, duty and redemption. Oh, I almost forgot, love.

In the French dub, they translated a sentence as "We're gonna need a bigger boat" as a clear hommage to JAWS :)

The reason the English dub is not "overacting" is because the original is not overacting like other Japanese movies. A lot of Japanese acting method was done in a theatrical way with a lot of monologues in Japan, but this movie has less. We still need to give credits to the overdubbing team too though.

Godzilla not eating someone and instead just chucking them is probably the most hilarious Godzilla kill ever.

As someone who is extremely dyslexic I really appreciate them making the dub as well as they did

Whenever I rewatch "Shin Godzilla", I watch it twice, once with sub-titles, then the dubbed. I enjoy both.

So glad they dubbed it. My mother, a huge Godzilla fan in her 60’s that introduced it to us-her children-, wouldn’t be able to watch it otherwise. She’s seen every Godzilla movie and still loves them today. We actually have Godzilla movie marathons in our home.

Watched in theaters twice so hadto see how the english dubbed version was on netflix and i thought they did a very solid job

I watched it in english dubbed the first time yesterday because I didn't know what I was watching. I put the movie on as background noise basically. But I couldn't stop watching it and it surprised me. I was like "what the hell am I watching?".. It was an awesome movie. I loved it. Going to watch it again in Japanese with subtitles this time.

I love how the bar is so low that, “i mean, yeah, it’s ai’ght” is high praise when it comes to dubs. Lol. I love this movie and am so happy it’s finding a bigger audience.

This is so great to hear! My sister has low vision and can't read subtitles in movies. It's awesome to know that with the dubs she can have a similar viewing experience as I have with subs. Can't wait to share this movie with her this weekend!

I plan on watching the original Audio in the next few days! Watched the English dub first. I cried like a baby so I'm excited to see the original Audio! I know imma cry all over again.

Version I grabbed is "Godzilla Minus one Minus color". It's my favorite way to watch it. CGI looks more realistic, and it has a feel of the original.

GMO is a genuinely brilliant, brilliant film. When you look at the budget too (something like $12 million), it's jaw dropping! That kind of money wouldn't even buy you a weeks worth of pre-production for a Hollywood blockbuster these days.
The acting is top drawer, the production is lean and efficient, the script is as good as any, the score is epic and harks back to much older Godzilla films, the action is exciting, the effects blow a lot of films with 20 times the budget into the weeds and it delivers an emotional punch to the gut that will leave you totally broken one second and punching the air in joy the next.
The big Hollywood studios need to look at GMO very carefully. It has embarrassed Hollywood's current efforts in every department and makes their obscene budgets just seem like a grossly over inflated waste of money.

I watched both versions and I enjoyed both of them. I appreciate the fact that they gave you the time to read the subtitles and didn't have the actors talking all over each other making it difficult to read the subtitles without missing any of the action.

Godzilla minus one has been such a surprising success story? And it keeps on finding more support from the fans as it’s become number one streaming movie on Netflix and that has a lot to do with the English dub version, and I’ve watched it and the emotion comes through as you can feel the great performance!❤️😎👍
