Initial impression is that it's nice, maybe later, when the bugs are sorted, I might give it a go.

Nice review. I am using Cosmic on Fedora 40, switching back and forth with Gnome. Cosmic is not done, but is quite usable. No crashes and the bugs are more due to missing features than serious annoyances. Installation on Fedora was simple -- enable a repository and do a single "dnf install". I'm seeing frequent Cosmic updates being applied -- approximately 3x/week.

Excellent review. Is it possible to install beautyline icon packs in cosmic os?. It is available in garuda and archcraft. I love that icons a lot.

Looks awesome. I wonder if there is an Gnome Extension for other desktops to create the Application popup window, like shown at 0:35. Every Distro should have that option w/an extension.

Beautiful, I really love the features of Pop OS, I some of that functionality into gnome but out of the box it has a great feel.

When is it coming to ARCH?

with reviews like this, I'm expecting what are the missing features mainly since it's an alpha release. I also would like to know how it is better or worse in different aspects compared to gnome. All the stuff you described are just basic features in any DE

1:52 - KDE 6 with X11 is very very buggy and KDE 6 scaling on Wayland means a poor experience, so if Cosmic allows Font DPI. I will def considering moving over.

It's in alpha, so daily using is not recommended.

Looks pretty much the same to the current desktop version.

To me it looks nasty with the top panel and dock - maybe it appeals more to Gnome sufferers than us happy Plasma users.

I still think plasma destop is better (its my personal view)

I think it's very overrated, the only innovative thing is the hybrid window management (floating and tiling) that is present in Awesome many years ago.

wow, another thing in Linux ecosystem made just for sake of "doing my own thing"... We've got already billion Linux distributions where most of them are just clones of some other major distros, why we can't have now billion desktop environments? :D
