San Martin SN012 ( Miyota 8315 ) Full Review

This was a sneaky one. I didn't expect to like this as much as I do. pretty consistent wear over week #1 and that's WITH a couple other New watches including the SN021 Gilt Snowflake.

The best advantage of the 8315 not so much the hacking (as the 821a variant of the 8215 found in the newest Basic Laco pilot watches also hack) but a 60-hour power reserve and patented anti-oxidation blue screws used to increase the movement aesthetics.

I must be in the minority, but I actually like all of the rotor movement on my one miyota movement watch. I like watching it whizz around through the exhibition caseback, and the slight noise and feeling of movement reminds me I am not wearing a quartz... Not that I have a problem with quartz, but why pay extra for an auto if it didn't look/feel different? Anyway I guess I'm just an outlier

Had mine a month now also has the 8315 n didnt realise it had a 60 hour power reserve which is a bonus....Deffo helm homage.... great review and highly recommend this piece....

I love the bold and simple bezel, Insert, dial, and hands. And also that it is available with a sterile dial. Think I'll order one

Pretty sure this is a Helm Vanuatu homage. The fully lumed dial is a nice twist on Helm's design though, and given how long the waitlist for the Vanuatu is nowadays, I could definitely see people picking this up in its place, even though they cost almost the same.

Very well done watch review. As professional as one could ask for. Seems like another impressive piece by San Martin. I just purchased a SN036-G with a Miyota 8315 movement. It has not arrived yet. If I like the movement, and I suspect I will, I think I'll pick up an SN012 during the next sale. The 60 hour power reserve is a great feature.

Glad they listened and upgraded the movement because the 8215 is just a bit long in the tooth. Bit too big on the lug to lug for me but still a solid offering. Prefer the black dial though on this occasion. Nice work with the review

It's a handsome looking watch. I like the brushed ceramic bezel insert. Let's face it, it's a Helm homage and loke Helm they felt the need to make the watch a little (too) big. As good as their case finishing is, the occasional sharpness is some San Martin need to improve upon. The inner edge of the lugs look like weapons.

Good looking watch. A full lumed dial by SM shouldn't disapoint.
I feel this is to big for my wrist 😥
Someday I will find a good full lumed dial watch for me

i don't get it .. the pricing of the 8315 is between the nh35 & pt5000 regarding the watch, i'd still be surprised if they sell any better than they currently are regardless of the Helm situation at £225 which tbf for what you get as watch isn't that bad but...i dunno i suppose you pays your money & makes your choice.
