What's happening good people, today we have the big one, the Miyota 821a against its successor the 8315, but is this a big upgrade or simply a subtle tweak?

Hey guys, here is the big one, the Miyota 821a against the 8315 and well we will see if the new movement is a worthy upgrade over the already impressive 821a. Thanks for watching guys and hope you all had a great weekend.

Great review. It was very helpful. Just ordered and now waiting for my Laco Augsburg with 8315 movement. It looks spending extra 55 EUR was smart decision. Many thanks.

Very good vid Wes. Love this comparison. I have been collecting watches of all brands and price points for 30 years. It's refreshing to see these type vids. 👏👏👏👏👏

Both of those are beautiful! Laco's dial, and SanMartin's bracelet are nice. It's nice comparison of old and new.
I'm really impressed at that 60hours of that upgraded movement. As a small fan of Miyota, like this review.
As I don't have movement that has beautiful flowing second hand, wanna have one of it! nice review.

Interesting video Wes - thanks. How do these Miyota movements compare to the NH seies movements for thickness? The NH series are known for being on the thick side aren't they? 🤔🤔🤔

Very informative video. I'm strongly considering getting a laco aachen with the upgraded 8315 movement. Do you think the glare on the aachen is bad enough to warrant the ar coating upgrade aswell?

Awesome presentation. Both are nice but the improvent is awesome! Would love to see how some of the Chinese movements compare.

Miyota 8315 is not direct drive - it has indirectly driven seconds hand, just like all the 8215 derived movements. Please check the technical specifications.

I got my first watch with the 8315 about 3 weeks ago. It has not stopped running since I unboxed it because of the 60 hr reserve and I like the watch so it hasn't been off my wrist more than a couple of days at a time. My amateur findings: can't hear it but my hearing is not great so.. Accuracy seems outstanding. I don't have a device to measure it but I know it's less than a minute a week in real life. I own several NH35's and one Chinese movement and they are all pretty good, reasonably accurate. But because of the power reserve and possibly the best accuracy the Miyota 8315 is the best automatic movement I own. I did buy my daughter a Tissot with a Powermatic 80. That is a great movement for reasonable money.

Good video filling a niche that isn't talked about in a lot of detail. Definitely worth the extra money for 8315 I reckon as it costs around $40 to buy this movement from Miyota when compared to the 821a. Not much when compared to what the watch manufacturers charge for the products.

Thanks for the video. Miyota seems to have a hit with the 8315. Good looking(ish), 60 hours and inexpensive. On the two watches in this review, is the Laco's reflective crystal really that bad?

Does Miyota publicly state the 8315 has a direct drive seconds hand? If not, what is your source?

I just received a San Martin with the 8315. Good movement, but when I move the hour hand counterclockwise the second hand jumps a bit as well. I contacted San Martin and they said this was normal. Have you experienced it as well?

Awesome comparison mate definitely an improvement in the movement. And the NH series I doubt that seiko will do anything about it if the worst case scenario is they can pimp out there "GMT" NH34 or whatever it called 😆

hello sir, does this 8315 have variant for day/date? does it better than nh35?

What we might see is a reversal of the NH35 price increase of the past year.
