This video is nothing to Scientific or very educational, however I hope that it may be helpful to any new Aquascapers, who have created cloudiness in their water while building their Hardscape. Murky water is common when setting up a new tank, or adding substrate to your in fish tank.
Also at the same time, I will be covering how to section off floating plants, such as Water Lettuce, duckweed, and red root floaters with a DIY Style fish keeping life hack.

It's always tricky when starting a new patch of floating plants, and if they get pushed under water by the filters stream they often times and up wilting and dying, or getting wedged under other parts of your decor. This video shows you how to use bubble wrap, fishing line, some binder clips, and bread ties 2 create a raft that floats Atop The Water and prevents the very surface of your water from rotating with the rest of your water circulation.

This is a 20 gallon aquarium housing neocaridina shrimp including blue dream, and blue velvet shrimp, rainbow tiger endlers, Ruby tetras, and a Calico pleco. This tank will be featured in an ongoing series about how to plant low light and low maintenance carpeting plants with or without the use of CO2 and fertilizers.
Pardon the low production value on this video, it was a spur-of-the-moment video in which I hoped maybe I could alleviate some headaches for a few of you viewers.

Thanks again, sincerely - Alexander Williamson

The bubble wrap blockade is a good idea. I’m a beginner with live plants so I’m trying to think of way to control floater plants before introducing them to my tank. I wonder if you could create the same effect with a piece of driftwood, or would adding bone beads cause it to sink?

If you takeairline tubingand measure it to the proper length ot reach from point to point inside your tank where you want your floating plants to me, you can then cut it. Then take a pair of pliers, needle nose might work best, heat up the tip part and clamp it on the open end of the tubbing to seal it. this keeps the air inside to make it bouyant. Then using some aquarium safe silicone attach it to the inside of the tank where you want it. Or you can make a sircle shape out of the tubing and put your floating plants inside the tubing enclosed area.

What kind of filter do you suggest to use for cloudy water because of sand? I have recently change my tank to 20 gallons of water and add more fish into it. And I have sand/rock with it. I noticed the moment I put water in, it does get cloudy. And it’s been three days now and still nothing changed. I know it’s because of the sand, try to fix but didn’t work… I do have filter add it with. Still not sure why nor how long will it take.

Had the same problem, but the unfortunate thing happened is that all fish died after this. And I didn't know what to do.

I’m 5 years too late but careful with bubble wrap, I’ve had it completely fall apart into super small pieces over time
