A functional based ISO GPS is always using datums for the simulation of natur contacts (which appear between two parts) at a single part specification (where the contact partner is missing, isn‘t it?).
A functional based specification is not using datums for orientation in manufactoring processes like verification instead of nature function (we are talking about „fit“ or „touch“ according ISO 5459 -> fit only at linear sizes).
If the nature contacts are not suitable for manufacturing processes, the nominal design itself should be optimized - not the functional based ISO GPS (remember ISO 8015!)
