Here are the some of the major reasons why Linux is better than Windows in several areas. Maybe this will help you compare and try Linux or help you to use it as your daily driver.

Disk Space - As you know, default windows install uses 15 to 20 gbs of space and can increase as you update and install applications. On the other hand, Most Linux distros uses less than 10 gb space. And you can find disros with as low as 200 mb.

Updates - On Windows, you have to update Windows from Settings, Apps downloaded from Microsoft store are updated there and applications outside Microsoft Store have to be updated manually and the process is different for every app. On Linux, everything is updated on the same place. weather you use package manager, software centre or app centre, everything is updated from the same place. It varies from distro to distro but usually everything can be updated either from an app or one single command.

The Package Managers - Microsoft Store is the worst of any applications centre in any ecosystem. It doesn't have lot of options to choose from and contains lot of fake apps which makes it really difficult to distinguish between original and fake apps. On linux, you can find almost every app you are looking for in your distribution's package manager or software centre. If you don't find any, you have an option to add other repos too. Arch distros have AUR which is really powerful and contains every software you will ever need.

Security - With over 90% market share, windows is the most used operating system and hence is prone to many virus and malwares, ransomeware and cyber attacks. Software installation can give apps access to all files on your system. Linux arcitecture is safer and it secures system through privlages. Linux does not grant full administrator or root' access to user accounts by default, whereas Windows does. This means that when a virus gets in, the damage it can do is limited.

Privacy - Now that we talked aout security, privacy is an important aspect. Windows collects a lot of data about users and asks user to select what they want collected. Not a single Linux distro collects your personal data by default. Some distros might ask you for telemetry data, which doesn't share any personal data. Windows being proprietary makes it hard to verify what is being collected but Linux is open-source which means you can check the source code and verify it.

Customization - Windows 11 realease gave us a new look at windows but it's still same old Windows 10 . It lacks customization and the only thing you can change is color and dark theme. Anything other than that, you have to use third party softwares. On linux, you can change everything, icons, themes, title bars, the position, transparancy, and much more. You can make your distro look like any other distro and even make it look and feel like Windows and mac-os.

Experience - Windows apps don't look same, some apps use older Windows 7 look, some use windows 10. Native windows apps doesn't look and feel same. For example, the settings apps has modern UI and Control Pannel comes with older look but is more powerful. Some windows does't follow the systemwide dark theme. Linux desktops do this in much better way, apps look the same, feel same and provides rich and unique experience by default. There are toolkits like GTK and Qt that developers can follow to make software.

Bloatware - Windows comes pre installed with a lot of apps which users don't need and contains adds. Apps are set default like Microsoft Edge and you have to manually change them. Major Linux distros comes with required open source softwares preinstalled. No need to waste time uninstalling crap and no extra services in the background.
