FAQS
Q: Where are you from?
A: I'm from the Philippines 🇵🇭

Q: What do you do?
A: I'm a full-time mom who works from home, full-time too!

Q: Is Youtube your full-time job?
A: No. This is just a hobby. I enjoy sharing my love for fountain pens, stationery and everything in between

Q: Why is your channel called Lefty Karen?
A: I'm left-handed. I hope this channel can inspire other lefties to try fountain pens and journaling

Q: How long have you been enjoying fountain pens?
A: I'm quite new to fountain pens. I fell down the rabbit hole in 2021 during quarantines and lock-downs. As a lefty, my main concern was ink smudging and that fountain pen nibs are only for right-handed people. But I've since come to love everything about fountain pens. As a lefty, it's tricky using some pens but I also appreciate manufacturers creating left-handed nibs.
I've also learned about nibsmiths / nibmeisters who can customize the grind of your fountain pen and make it work for you a little better.

Q: Do you still use ballpoint pens?
A: Definitely! As much as I love fountain pens, ballpoint pens are still very practical to carry around. I still use ballpoint pens to sign documents and application forms, especially if the papers used for those forms are not fountain pen friendly

Q: Tips for first time journalers / planners?
A: Be easy on yourself. Journaling for me is a therapeutic hobby and I don't want to stress myself just to write something everyday. Write depending on your mood. Write for your heart and soul

That error page stressed me out so much. This year I spend the least amount of time on the website though. Less than 5 minutes believe it or not. The most fun and intense time I had was Sept 2019 (my first time) and 2020 for Hobonichi 2020 and 2021. For some reason, last year's variety felt really boring, this year's too. But last year was the year I tried everything. Like you said, it was painful to see unused techo. But that is the only way to know what works for you. Resellers route is not actually cheaper for us in NZ sadly. The only way to do it is to do a group buy, which has its own challenges. Thanks for this video!

I ordered my planners from a US retailer about a week after launch. The first place I looked was sold out of the weeks cover I wanted, so I found another place that had it. To get free shipping I got a Techo too 🤦‍♀️Their shipment from Japan got held up, but I am not in a huge rush to get them

It was 7pm Aug 31st for me. My first drop and my mom and I were going through this all. Same experience with me with the refreshing. I got everything I wanted except for some of the stitch washi tapes.

You could keep your A6 ink swatch book going … just re-date with stickers as necessary 🤔 I love my Bonbon Plaid 💞 TFS 💫

Now THAT was quick!! haha
I'm not buying from the Japanese website this year, but when I did back in 2020 I actually waited till November to buy my planners. I discovered European retailers the day after I placed my order, though

Good idea on dividing the packages if the shipping costs are not too high. 😊
However, I am quite skeptical from buying abroad. Custom clearance on some products take months to receive. 😬

Haha I had the same issue when I was ordering on their website and I was getting all kinds of anxiety!! I've been following Hobonichi for a couple of years because I journal but this year I decided to get 2 covers and it was just about $240.00 USD for me ouch 😬😅.

The website is still throwing things out of mu cart as soon as I pit a second item in the cart. Or the website is not opening. From sept. 1 till sept. 24.... Sigh!
I did some things ordered on sept. 1/2, which I received sept. 19. :)

Well, in Greece if the package is above 26€ (!) you need to pay customs...!! (It is 1470 Ph pesos !) 😅 (So I ordered only from amazon Japan when I was there!)

Time lapses are always fun to watch. I’ve been using Hobonichi since 2016. I think everyone had fun with the error page. Your video’s great!
