Blender 2.8 How to see edge length and face area

In this blender (2.8) tutorial we go over how to view edge length and face area on any model. This can be extremely useful for measurement based modelling.

Step 1:
Go to edit mode

Step 2:
Go to overlay and find the measurement section

Step 3:
Enable edge length and face area

I have no Clue what the issue is, but is says 2 meters for my default cube when I spawn it in, and a significantly larger object also says 2M long. what the hell.

⚠No longer accurate in Blender 4.0. The option has moved from Overlays to Mesh Edit Mode Overlays.

After entering Edit Mode a new icon appears to the right of the Overlays dropdown. Click that icon for a dropdown that includes measurement overlays.

Do you know if it possible to edit the font size and/or color of these measurements? Currently I have both edge length and angle enabled, but the colors blend into the background so I can hardly read it. (it is not influenced by settings > interface > resolution scale)

In Blender 2.82 (the current version), the Overlays drop-down is gone!! Any idea how to do this with the new version?
