Single father & teacher with full 100% custody & 100% financial responsibility. The struggle is real.

I hope Jessica sees this! Start a YouTube channel about being a teacher of Special Needs students and being a parent of Autism. Tutoring online would be great! I'm sure there are so many families like this who are looking to relate two people online. I really think she should consider opening up a a YouTube channel. Goodluck to you Jessica!!!

Some people seem to have such challenging lives compared to others. Jessica seems like a very good person. I wish her the best!

Love how Dave lifted her up when she started to get overwhelmed.

Problem is that other parents of special needs kids are often strapped too...they can't afford $50 an hour for tutoring.

Don’t spend 120K for a 35K per year job. If a job in the field doesn’t pay well then the degree is an over rated piece of paper.

Some states pay "respite care" for special needs kids through a Medicaid voucher. If she became a certified Respite Care Worker, she could get paid for providing care and therapy through her state for the additional child. Her parents could also apply to receive money from the state as caregivers for their disabled granddaughter.

I was SO excited to hear that Daves advice is exactly what I was hoping he would say. I have a child with autism and I am in college for special education- behavior therapist. I am working on creating an online source of passive income. Im a homeschooling mom, my kids need me, my son needs me and my husband works a lot.

$120K in debt for a special ed teaching degree 🤦🏽‍♀️

I know, pay teachers a living wage. Special Ed is a hard job worth far more than they are paid.

Me: I owe my friend $20
Dave: Sell your car, sell your house. Your going to be living on rice and beans, beans and rice. You’re going to be living like you got -$50 in your 401k

That’s a tough place to be in.

Although I love Dave Ramsey’s advice, I think most people just don’t know the actual actions to take. Just saying, “Start a group, go tutor” may not be enough advice.

We don’t even know we if she is tech savvy enough to start groups or tutor online.

In any case, Hope she makes it through this.

Tutoring was a great idea! Really great idea that allows her to be there for her child, and provide value to the community while earning some extra 💰

Look up "respite" work and AFC(adult family care). They are both common jobs I've seen folk in similar situations take, and the assistance you get for your child will help you build the connections you would need.
