Alright, math time.

We will start out with PEMDAS.

6/2 (1+2)

We first to the parenthesis, which gets us...

6/2 • 3

We then have both multiplication and division, so we’re gonna start going left to right.

6/2=3.

We now have 3•3.

What is 3•3? 9.

Sincerely, a high school freshman.

"The order of operations is a rule that tells the correct sequence of steps for evaluating a math expression. We can remember the order using PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division (from left to right), Addition and Subtraction (from left to right)." Khan Academy

Y'all thinking it's 9?

Bro it’s 1 because using the distributive property first you can identify that it would be 6\2+4 which would make it 6/6 and any number divided by itself is 1. ( the slash is my devision symbol because there isn’t one here)

I'm losing faith in humanity. I can't believe everyone is getting the answer 1. It's clearly 7.

1+2 is 3 and then you multiply by 2 so thats 6. Then you get 6÷6 which is either 1 or 0 I dont remember. Probably 1

okay so the reason everyone is getting mixed answers is because the question itself is ambiguous. The problem can be interpreted either as (6)/(2(1+2)) or as (6/2)(1+2). If you solve out the first one it gives you 1 and if solve out the second one it gives you 9. The reason the equation is ambiguous is because if one were to substitute the division sign for a fraction line(which you can do) you would get one of the two equations above, depending on how you see it. I think there are also other possible answers, like if you use the distributive property on the parentheses to get 2 + 4. Then the equation would be 6 / 2 + 4, and it could be argued that 6 is divided by 2 first before adding the four according to the rules of PEMDAS which would give 3 + 4 = 7. So the question itself technically has multiple correct answers because there are different interpretations of the equation.

its 1, its basically 6/2(3) make sure to multiply the 2 with the brackets

Who tf is saying 6, because if you do it the wrong way you don't even get that

Yall. It's easy.

6 / 2 (1+2)

Parentheses first. 1+2 = 3

The problem is now 6/2×3

PEMDAS says to do multiplication before division. So the next step is 2 x 3 and that makes 6.

Now, division is the last step.

6÷6 = 1

The answer is 1.

1 or 9, depending on if you divide or multiply first

This depends if you were taught implied multiplication or not.

When I was taught, if there was an implied multiplication such as a/b(c+d) then the b(c+d) takes precedence over the a/b. Thus making the answer 1. However, if you were taught to always reset from left to right when working on an equation, this answer would be 9.

Now, the best thing you can do is ask for clarity. It should be written as (6/2) X (1+2) or 6/(2(1+2)) depending on what they want.

First you do the grouping aka the (1+2) then you do 6 divided by 2 then it would be 3 x 3 = 9

start in the "( )" so we do 1 + 2 which is 3, then you do 6 / 2, which is also 3, since there is no other symbol between the 2 and the 1, that means multiply, 3 x 3 is 9
the answer is 9

Oh boy, silly internet people.
Use PEMDAS
Parentheses
Exponents
Multiplication
Division
Addition
Subtraction

You do the answers in parenthesis first.

1+2=3

Then you do the division.
6/2=3

Then you have 3 and 3

You then multiply each number

3 x 3 = 9

Your final answer is 9.

9 is our final answer.

6/2(1+2)=?

First, solve the equation in parentheses. Therefore 6/2(3).

In BODMAS, division comes first. Then multiply. 6/2×3=3×3=9. The solution is correct but the analogy is incorrect, more on that later.

In PEMDAS, although the acronym multiplication comes first, multiplication and division are treated the same. Using the rule of solving from left to right, we have similar results. 6/2×3=3×3=9.

Note that this similarity between multiplication and division is seen in BODMAS and addition and subtraction.

Thus, the equation equals 9.
