So, what in the Hell do y'all expect??? That subdivision was built in the old Celery Fields!!!
Back in there is where it flooded all the time back in the day. You let Sarasota county commissioners vote to keep on building, and this is what you get! You need to make them vote for a moratorium. The commissioners are mostly building contractors and business people, they're in it for the money and don't give a Rat's Ass about you and your home .
They have an agenda and they are hurting you.

Unless you can self-insure, there’s Zero reason to own a home in Florida.

Sarasota county commissioners allow developments everywhere. They favor developers over the residents

I bet those HOA fees and property taxes won't stop just because you lost everything! What's that tell you!?

Developers & commissioners should be held accountable for their negligence in not having a system in place to mitigate excess water.

Ian brought just at much rain and it didn't flood. The county messed something up with the drainage.

They need to hire a forensic civil engineer and get to the truth because they will never get it otherwise.

The lady without knowing it identified the problem when she said “there’s all kinds of building going on around us.” People! When you bulldoze trees and take away grass and soil and put down pavement for new streets and build back huge house with small lawns (so they can build more houses) there is nothing left to absorb rainwater. Streets turn into canals and shopping center roofs and parking lots turn into water falls. We are doing away with vacant land that absorbs the water from the storms, duh.

They did work on the east side of Loraine rd, big pipes that were not completed. That same time everyone in thar area and near the creek where forced to get flood insurance. Then it Debbie hits the area with work not fully completed.

These folks choose to live there. Why everyone blaming the builders, the county, the state 🤷‍♀️ ? Don’t anyone take accountability for themselves anymore ? By the way - the entire State of Florida is a flood zone. Watched several videos of folks in this area & not one was thankful to be alive - they all are worried about their progressions 🤔 I don’t wish this on anyone but - I feel for retirees - they don’t have years ahead of them to start over.

I know what happened, 18 inches of rain is what happened. I don't care where you live (outside of a hill) anybody and everybody is subject to flooding, get real.

The county purposely held water back in the celery fields water retention area in order to drain the rest of the town west of i75. I live out here while the town was draining, our area was rising. Then soon as they opened the control structures miraculously the water started to drain off. Far too late. The county picked favorites. Clearly. And it’s sad

I'm no expert but i would get the wet stuff out of the house ASAP. Cut the drywall, tear up the floors and remove the bottom cabinets. Get everything out before the mold gets worse.
