*dynamic & sidechained so that the bass cut/boost reacts only when kick hits and vice versa

I love these tutorials but, I’ve just started music production and it seems like there’s so much to put into one production to make your track sound great. It will take me forever to learn to make one song.

Great advice, side-chain compression is also key to tame the kick and bass drum

just use a side chain. a side chain allows you to program something to dip when another frequency hits at the same time, most commonly used to duck the bass or 808 everytime the kick lands so it has room to breathe

Very clear, thanks. I'm just wondering, when the bassline is over 1.5 (or 2) octaves, would it work? At least that's a good starting point for me. Cheers

Why would you cut the snare freq? Sidechain the bass to the kickdrum instead

Sidechaining the tracks to each other does this automatically in Pro Q3. It shows as a red highlight. You can also make the bands dynamic to each other, too. But the pro MB is usually better for this kind of multiband compression.

How are you going to find the fundamental frequency of the bass guitar? Is the bass part one note the entire song?

Wondering what the fundamental frequency for the bass guitar would be. It would be playing notes all over the scale with the fundamental frequency changing with every note 👀👀👀

Imagine an EQ that adjusted itself depending on the notes being played by x instrument. I get that you mean the fundamental voice (as in instrument voice) frequency range vs. fundamental note.

Wondering if this eq concept would work on 2 synth tracks, if they are somewhat similar in

but then whenever the bass is playing alone, it'll sound weak and whenever the kick is playing solo it'll sound weak.

why you put it on a bus? instead put it on the bass

It might work, it might not. Depends on the track. This is why there are no one-size-fits-all techniques for mixing

The only problem i have is that the bass guitar doesn't have a fundamental frequency, each note it plays has a different one.

never used any expensive plugins, and probably never will, waves is literally all u need

Isn't better just to use soothe and let it work both ways? Of course tweak it right
