This is why they aren't joking about wearing your seatbelt

Nobody does a job advertising Airbus better than Boeing itself.

People wear a seatbelt even if the seatbelt sign is not on.

I went through something like that about 25 years ago on a flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles. The plane had a sudden drop and anyone who didn’t have their belt on hit the overhead storage. The difference was that nobody in 1999 filmed it and so it wasn’t reported in the media.

"shaking" doesn't throw you to the ceiling.

the witness i heard described a drop, like an elevator in free fall. I'm not sure shaking is an adequate description.

Its interesting how now with all the Boeing problems the news have actually been naming the manufacturer and the model of plane...

Doesn't sound like turbulence. Especially knowing that its altitude reading disappeared for an hour. Seems like a technical malfunction, or unless a pilot accidentally hit a wrong button. Thank God all of those people landed safely, although injured and very traumatized.

Here is a fun fact. When you book a trip on one of the vacation websites it actually gives you a list of boeing planes that you can choose not to fly on.

Boeing has gone real quick from "If it isn't Boeing, I'm not going " to "If it's Boeing, I'm not going

Per a passenger interviewed on BBC, a pilot walked back after landing and said the cockpit suddenly went "dark", as in zero control. All commercial aircraft have multiple redundancy, but, if true, this is very troubling.

Oh boy, here we go again. I don’t want to fly on any Boeing aircraft anymore.

What people don’t realize is that this doesn’t seem like it was due to turbulence. It seems like a mechanical issue.

If you want to know what happened:

Re: LATAM B789 - Mar 11 2024 - injuries from loss of control

Cabin crew visiting the flight deck rested her elbow on the cover of the switch that electrically moves the seat fore and aft, the one on top of the seatback. The seat proceeded to move forward pinning the captain against the control column (his legs were crossed apparently). His body pushed the control column, disconnecting the AP and initiating an “interesting” dive. Everyone that wasnt wearing a seatbelt hit the ceiling. Kaos and a struggle for survival ensued. Upon final recovery at 9, 000 ft, all the people who were stuck on the ceiling came crassing down. 50 or so injured.

Announcer: "We've turned the seat belt sign off. for your safety -PLEASE keep your seat belt on throughout the flight"
(Clack Clack Clack = Immediately Half the plane unclasping their seat belts)

I had the same experience flying from Milan to NY. No warning the plane nose dived causing the life preserve to come out of ceiling, all the above luggage cabinets opened and caused everything fall out onto passenger. Luckily I had my seatbelt on. I was able to grab the hand of one of crew and hold on to her from sliding down the aircraft. The incident only lasted for a few seconds. The pilot came on the intercom and said there was no indication on the radar of any turbulence. A few minutes later, it happened again. I don't recall anyone injured on this flight. My eyeglasses did break but that was all.
