There are around 1 in 100 in the UK and 1 in 60 people in the US who are diagnosed with autism.

It’s a question that many people may think do i have autism? Am I just odd? What does this all mean?

I have a few simple ways you can check to see if you align with signs of the autism spectrum and ways you can check a closer scoring system.

There are lots of ways to do this but here are the most effective.

1 Common Signs
There are very common sings associated with autism like, difficulty with eye contact, difficulty in social situations and struck ridged daily routine.

2 AQ Test Online

3 Professional Assessment
If you are confident that you do present most of the common sings of autism and scored high on the AQ test, I would advise that you try to book a professional assessment of autism.

I'm not diagnosed officially but when I assume I am autistic my life suddenly makes sense.

"I feel fine but everyone else is kind of weird." I felt that way for 34 years before my official diagnosis.

To me social interaction is like learning a foreign language: With practice I can do it, but it's a lot of work and not relaxing. Quite the opposite. Exhausting.

When u have adhd and autism combo the routine part is kinda a struggle between two different personalities in your brain... Adhd hates boring routines, autism love it... It drives me crazy it's like in cartoons when there's an angel and devil on the shoulder.

It’s not always about knowing how much eye contact is right - it can be like too much eye contact is mentally uncomfortable - it’s like a compulsion to break contact. The AQ test was fascinating. I did it first out of curiosity, and I was stunned to see that I scored very highly.

Boy did I say inappropriate things and at the wrong time, like at family get-togethers when I was growing up.

Yep. Me too exactly. It fits so well I have tears of grief and relief when I started reading about Aspergers, especially how it presents in girls. I am learning to see myself as different rather than a failure of a person.

Eye contact could be vice versa to, you might constantly look in to someone eyes. To he point where the other person feels uncomfortable, this is also common for aspies. Not just the part you explain.

I get caught in mental loops a week later I’m still thinking about what someone said analyzing it in every direction that I can think of. Then forgetting about what it was I was thinking about in the first place. By the way what were you talking about. CPTSD PTSD developmental trauma shock trauma ADHD dyslexic. And for some odd reason I like to walk in circles seems to calm me down.

I know I definitely got ADHD, (diagnosed 14-15 years ago)
But now I suspect that I might have Autism.
I've taken the AQ and EQ tests, and I found them really hard to take.
According to my score, I'm probably on the spectrum.
However, there was a lot of the questions where I felt I needed a lot more context!

Questions like if I would prefer going to the Library or the Museum - well, what is the play, what kind of Museum, is there something special going on in the Museum, am I going alone and if not who am I going with, will there be a lot of people, for how long, etc.
Same for the Library v. A Party; what kind of party is it, who's there, am I going alone, for how long, what kind of library is it, etc...
And a lot of the stuff about what I notice or don't notice - or eye contact for that matter.
It's been hammered into me that I have to maintain eye contact when I'm talking to people, and I've practiced it a lot.

And the questions in the EQ is even harder.
I'm often told that I'm very empathic and good at figuring out what people mean - that is, in my work and with a few close friends.
But at the same time, especially when I'm tired, I constantly mess up, (especially in relationships), and I don't get that I messed up or how, before it's explained to me, (sometimes I even need it explained a couple of times - and then I always feel so damn terrible afterwards, because it's typically the last one I wanna hurt, I hurt the most)...

My ex has autism, and she's sure I have it as well.

I guess I better go see a professional!

I’m currently on a waiting list for a diagnostic assessment despite scoring ‘not likely to be autistic’ on those tests. Both of my children have autism and I have the sensory stuff so I’m checking it out. It’s good that there is more awareness about this issue for sure!

I love your content. My son is on the spectrum and I loath reading about it (especially from authors who may not be on the spectrum) but really appreciate adults on the spectrum who talk about it and explain their perspective….. that has been the most valuable and understandable presentation of ASD

You do a really great job of breaking stuff down.

I'm starting an assessment soon and there is some pretty strong indicators that I most likely have autism. Your videos have really help me put words on a lot of things happening with me so now I can express it to my doctors and actually get the right treatment. Getting a diagnosis is mostly important to me because it gives me a way to communicate how I work. And also hopefully I will get permission to train my pup to be my official assistant dog so she can go with me everywhere. She have already started "working", making me stick to routines and helping with otherload and meltdown. Mostly by sitting on my chest and giving me kisses. Only had her a month but she is already making it much easier to deal with the world.

Diagnosed at 52. The ways you suggest are good. Difficulty keeping a job was my first hint.

Your videos are the kick in my ass I need to actually call the places my therapist recommended. I fully need to get an actual diagnosis. Thank you for sharing this information!

I didn't know about autism until February, so I would be pretty rigid with my schedule but I didn't know I should be more rigid with it. My life always felt completely chaotic and I was constantly overwhelmed. I am just now learning that I HAVE to be rigid about it, because if I don't, I am not able to regulate my emotions. It feels so much better to really have that understanding. Before, I had no idea that it was a thing I should think about and I always felt I had to be flexible.

As an Introvert, there seems to be a lot of overlap so I took the AQ Test and it says that I have a strong likelihood of Asperger's Syndrome or autism but I think at age 60, I don't really need to go any further. I have two children, one diagnosed and the other I believe should have been diagnosed as such but he was born at a time when it was not common to do so. He was diagnosed as ADHD but I never thought it covered all his symptoms.
