Just sang this in concert and while we were not as good as this recording it was exceedingly more powerful to be in it. The most beautiful song to be a part of

Another director told me to listen to this. Not "told" so much as insisted. And now I know why. This is one of those incredibly moving chorals that would stand out in any concert.

This is seriously the most gorgeous song I've ever listened to. I sang this song at honors choir back in October of 2017, and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Absolutely beautiful!

Pure angelic beauty especially from 3:30-4:25 I haven't cried so hard since my dad died. It brings the fervor of the transcendental movement and the poetry of Emerson to the forefront. The transcendental movement being "the divinity is alive in all of God's creatures, and to truly know God, you must truly know nature. Lincoln was a Transcendentalist. This lone angelic voice comes in at 3:52 from the horizon, to be massaged by a chorus of God's creatures. You hear this, and it makes you proud to be an American, and even more, a human. To know humans are capable of such greatness such as this music to text is uplifting. "But in the darkest meanest things, there alway, alway, something sings!" Sometimes the most simplest of words, can be so incredibly moving. I tip my hat to you Mr.Forrest you capture the life of the poetry and the time period of it, so well!

Let me go where’er I will
I hear a skyborn music still:
It sounds from all things old,
It sounds from all things young,
From all that’s fair, from all that’s foul,
Alway, alway something sings.
It is not only in the rose,
It is not only in the bird,
Not only where the rainbow glows,
Nor in the song of woman heard,
But in the darkest, meanest things
There alway, alway something sings.
‘Tis not in the high stars alone,
Nor in the cup of budding flowers,
Nor in the red-breast’s mellow tone,
Nor in the bow that smiles in showers.
But in the darkest, meanest things
There alway, alway something sings.
