Trying to Flip a Boat? #shorts

This boat’s owner shocked everyone after challenging his friends to see if they could flip it over! At first he even joined in on the rocking but quickly after ran inside to turn on the boat's gyroscopic stabilizer. it's basically a giant spinning flywheel that resists tilting by pushing back against the motion.

Imagine this boat riding a wave in the ocean while staying right side up

It's probably the best invention for boats in a long time. Less sea sickness.

This is the gyroscope company showing how well their product works. Not just a bunch of friends messing around.

The gyroscope is so stable it could resist the rotation of the earth 😂

I have one in my boat it’s a
37’ Stingray with twin V8 Cummins . Works great in rough weather

Incredible brain behind this engineering.

Imagine the narrator saying that this guy challenged his friends instead of saying it was a demonstration video for the seakeeper.

The World War I transport USS Henderson, completed in 1917, was the first large ship with gyro stabilizers. It had two 25-ton, 9-foot (2.7 m) diameter flywheels mounted near the center of the ship, spun at 1100 rpm by 75 hp (56 kW) AC motors. The gyroscopes' cases were mounted on vertical bearings.

I am a cnc machinist. I made the gears for seakeeper.

Seakeeper gyro can range from 16900- 348, 000$ that gyro is probably 100 grand the boat and engines are around 460 thousand. Used maybe 380. Glad we cleared that up and the hardware on top. Neat video

I think what makes more sense is that they were trying to see how fast the gyro could stop the boat from tilting.

Louis Brennan (no relation, I don’t think anyway) invented a train that ran on a single rail with a giant gyroscope inside which prevented the train from falling over, he originally invented the gyroscope for the submarine torpedos

Definitely only for charter boats. Cost - $119, 000 MSRP + installation at around $23, 000 USD

Those things truly are amazing. Simple trick of physics saving lives.

I wonder how effective that would be in a rogue wave, or in extreme conditions?

Finally a guy who actually explains stuff

Just a sea Yes it makes your deep vee boat more comfortable in mild conditions.
To be seaworthy requires the boat to go with the waves in rough An under rough conditions ... Displacement type speed operation not planing..the sea keeper could actually be detrimental to sea worthiness

This stabilizer was invented in the 1800s for a train that only needed one single rail instead of two rails.

This is the gyro manufacturer getting a free advertisement for a product that actually does work well
