This is why I first converted to Buddhism. We don't view him as a god, we view him as a teacher

100% FACT. Other religions such as Christianity and Islam think we worship Buddha, but no. We respect Him and his teachings

One thing that I learned about Buddha that I really appreciated was that he didn't ask people to blindly follow his teachings but ask them to ponder on his teachings and then follow if they wished. Basically I appreciate that he didn't demand to be worshipped, but rather offered these teachings and then left it up to the individual.

As a buddhist this is exactly why I am not an aethiest because Buddhism is so logical (except the exaggerated tales). WE don't ask things out of buddha we don't worship buddha he was merely a human who achieved enlightment and passed on his discoveries. He is a teacher.

As a Tibetan Buddhist I can always question Buddhas teachings and reason and come to my conclusion. This is why Buddha is my ultimate spiritual teacher. Additional teachers are Nagarjuna, Shantideva, Tilopa, Milarepa etc.

This is why I like Buddhism the most out of all the religions.

There is no true god (or at least anyone claiming they represent God, which in my opinion is as arrogant and disrespectful as it gets), there is no diminishing of thought.

In other religions we have many many people who claim they pass the direct word of God, ordering others around. Saying things like "you're going to hell unless you do what I say, because I have God behind me".

When in Buddhism, of course the same thing can happen, but the religion and content ITSELF does not allow room for this. Simply learning and teaching. If you don't follow or do it, that's perfectly fine.

We won't claim you're a witch and burn you at the stake because you didn't blindly follow the priest's commands.

We won't have a true reason to declare war and slaughter entire groups of people and claim it's for our god. Etc.

It's more so a mindset. Learning to improve yourself and live a happy life. Hard to force others to follow your words wehn that's as far as the content goes.

one thing I like the Buddha the most is He never claimed that He was a GOD.. but instead, he explains to everybody that he's only human...

Sometimes I feel so safe with Buddha's teachings that I feel like he is always near me, teaching me and having patience with my mistakes.

When my Christian parents try to tell me “you can’t worship anyone but god” it makes me laugh. Buddha isn’t to be worship, he is a teacher, a philosopher that left his teachings behind for others to use.

Very well explained... Buddha was against any worship or rituals, his teachings are what should be followed.

As a Christian I believe I have learned a lot from this video because previously I thought you were worshipping Buddha as a God but now I realize he’s more of a prophet a powerful one and as a Christian I like using information from different religions to see through different perspectives.

Buddhism is the only religion based on logic and critical thinking ❤

I am a Vietnamese teenager but grew up Christian with my family. When my mom divorced, we moved and then a few years later converted to Buddhism. I am glad we did. Buddhism requires no worship whatsoever. This philosophy has changed my life ❤️

This is beautifully explained. I love the compassion of the Buddha and value him as a teacher, just like Lord Krishna. To me, they are both teachers. When I ‘worship’ Krishna, it’s more like simply respecting and loving the compassion and serenity-grace within myself and others, and holding him (same goes for Buddha) in high respect as a teacher. Ultimately, they teach me to be my own teacher. The divine is within (and within every being/the living world). They merely teach me to explore myself. 🙏🏽🤎 this is not a sign of worship, but if humble respect and gratitude.

My grandfather is a spiritual Christian and always told me that we should not worship the christ, but revere him for the teachings. Especially that the kingdom of heaven is within.

Thank you so much for explaining clearly the meaning of being a person who knows about the philosophy. I am 66 years old and was brought up as a Catholic. My second cousin is the cardinal of Sri Lanka. I feel really bad because as a young boy I ridiculed the teaching of the buddha. However, most of the servants we had in our house were Buddhist . They never ridiculed me. I realise now, how the servants knew the meaning of buddhism in themselves. They showed me the teachings without saying anything about my behaviour !!
