SSDs and HDDs go together like flour and bone. You'd rather just have flour, but it's too expensive because we're in the Middle Ages for some reason, so you stretch it out with ground-up bone.

My high school got by just fine with 10 year old potatoes, so to speak. I can't help but feel this build, like everything at LinusTechTips, is overkill for anything shy of legit 3D animating or really lengthy video projects (20+mins). Photoshop can be run a tablet at this point. Still, I like the concept. Nice to see such acts of generosity.

I think a good rig for video editing would be -

AMD 9000 series or Intel server based 8 core cpus
16 gb of ram - 32 gb of ram Corsair or Ripjaw
900gb+ SSD
4x 6TB HD
2x r9 290's or 2x 980's
1000+ W PSU
An Ample case with plenty of space
Extra fans
External 128 GB PNY Patriot for backing the system up
Windows 7 OS
Dual Boot for 8.1 OS and future 9 OS
1 DVD Blue Ray drive
990 FX Killer MOBO or Intel x99 based

I think that would be the absolute best for editing and producing videos.

Why would you need a 980 graphics card for video editing? You're still wasting too much money on these kind of builds.
