Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 175 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React

Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.

In this episode we continue working on notifications by setting up the mention notifications section of our notification page. To do this we have to start out in the backend to add the post the user is replying to into the notification, and refactor all the backend code that this affected. Then we fix a bug with the navigation component to actually show when we have all types of notifications. Finally, we setup the MentionNotifications component to list out all of the notifications we have related to mentions, and make it so as soon as you load them they get read. In order for this page to work we had to make a small modification to the Post component so we can display in then notifications page that the post is a reply to the user whos logged in.
