My name is Lucy, I'm a 23-year-old girl from the Netherlands, and I'm here to offer an alternative approach to beauty.

On this channel I do mostly hair tutorials where I show you how to braid, pin and style your own hair. I recreate hairstyles from movies & tv shows and I regularly come up with my own, which I love to share with you!

I do lifestyle and beauty videos as well, ranging from wearable everyday looks, makeup tips and DIY natural beauty treatments, to fashion lookbooks, vegetarian recipes and more extreme Halloween tutorials.

If you enjoy history, you've come to the right place as well. I have a few series based on historical makeup and hairstyling that are my little passion projects.

Enjoy browsing!

Love,
Lucy

As a Canadian woman 61 years old I often have remembered over the decades my mother putting rags in my hair as a very little girl and as delighted to find your video good for you thank you

My Mother used to curl my hair that way. Glad you younger ones are doing it again. You are a beautiful young lady.

Thank you so much for the tutorial. I was the hair director for a Victorian musical and many of my cast members used your method as reference. They did rag curls every night for 14 days straight. Thank you again for being a piece of inspiration!

my mom taught me this when I was 7 and I do this everyday, except my rags are shorter, so I don’t wrap the bottom all the way back to the top. Instead, I tie a knot around the hair at the root, twist around like so and then twist each individual one rag curl into a sort of “cinnamon bun” and tie the ends together. I only use four, so it takes about less than ten minutes once you get used to it, and run my fingers and separate the curls through to create a natural curl look

Hope this helps!

My grandmother used to curl my aunt's hair in the depression this way. I've been wanting to figure out how to do it. THANK

OMG. I just watched Viv Hair Therapy and she did your tutorial. I didn't think I could do this style with my texture. I love it you both. Thanks

When I was little, I had very long hair, and for special occasions, my mother would rag curl my hair. It's very effective and you can sleep on them more comfortably than regular curlers.

My mum used to do this with my hair. If you put half of the rag hanging down over your head, wrap the hair around it then wrap the covering part of the rag from top to bottom and tie at the bottom. Then it´s not bumpy to sleep on x

This is the tutorial I have been needing for years ! I have always wanted to get natural looking ringlets with no heat and nothing ever worked for me ! Just now I tried it on dry hair for about 2 hours and even then it worked beautifully! Thank you!

I’d love to try it out on my own. My mom did my hair in rag curls for our susqecentenial, I wore my great aunt’s old party dress - it had a lot of fine lace and bead work. I looked just like her ( she passed away very young in the early 1900’s influenza epidemic. It was kind of eerie in a way when my great aunt Elenor told me how much I looked like Kathleen. ) the rag curls made it look historically accurate. It was an honor and a privilege to wear the dress and have my hair done that way .

Try cutting each strip in half length ways to make the knot at the top thinner. My grandmother used to do my hair in those and it was easier to sleep in. Love that you tried it though.

With this method, I suggest to oil your ends especially if they are damaged because your ends will look dry

This is the most straightforward, helpful tutorial I've seen on no-heat ringlets. Thank you and BTW your accent is amazing :)

My mom was born in 1938 and her mother used to curl her hair with rag curls when she was 4-5 years old. She said they were very painful to sleep in, but they were the most beautiful ringlets I've ever seen in the pictures. My grandma was a perfectionist. I'm guessing she probably wrapped them up more so they were more on her head rather than hanging down vertically, so that probably made them even harder to sleep on.

This video reminded me of my childhood in the 1950’s. My Mum or older sister would put mine and my younger sisters hair in rags on a Saturday night or when there was a special occasion. I notice others have commented that wrapping the opposite way to how you demonstrated gives a more comfortable nights sleep. Of course that also depended on how many rags were put in and how tight they were wrapped. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Kindest regards.

Wow, I just uploaded a tutorial for rag curls like these on Wednesday; it's like we read each other's minds! I did mine in two layers: one on top of my head and the other low enough not to get between my head and the pillow. It was comfortable to sleep in, but my curls ended up really poofy and not as tidy as yours. I also did a tutorial where I started wrapping the hair from the ends, and I got looser curls that were mainly curly at the bottom. :-)

Oooh!! Ok, this is very different from every other rag curl vid on YT that basically starts from the bottom and rolls straight up tot eh scalp. Very nice change of pace!! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks!!!

My mom used to wrap my freshly shampooed hair like that when I was a child (1961-1964). She used an old bed sheet and tore it into long strips.
