Donald Trump opens up to Dr Phil about his vice president pick

Former US president Donald Trump has announced when he will reveal his 2024 running mate during a wide-ranging interview with TV host Dr Phil.

Trump plans to announce his vice presidential pick at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next month.

America's 45th president made the remarks in an interview that aired on Thursday at 8PM ET/ 0000GMT on Merit Street and streamed on Merit+.

"I'm going to do it in the convention, come up during the convention. We'll do an interview," he told Dr Phil.

His statement comes after months of speculation about whether former Republican nomination contenders might be considered for the role.
