Elton John opens up on 'friendly' relationship with 'hilarious' Donald Trump

British singer-songwriter Sir Elton John has opened up about his "friendly" relationship with former US president Donald Trump during a recent interview with Variety.
John, speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, praised Trump's "hilarious" use of one of his songs to describe North Korea's Kim Jong-Un as "Little Rocket Man".
He said Trump’s comment made him laugh and praised it as a clever jab.
"I laughed, I thought that was brilliant. I just thought, 'Good on you, Donald'," he said.
The nickname, inspired by John's 1972 hit song Rocket Man, was used by Trump in 2017 during tensions with North Korea.
Despite political differences, John appreciated Trump’s support and that they’ve always been "friendly" toward each other.
"Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times," the five-time Grammy award-winning artist said.
"I've always been friendly toward him, and I thank him for his support.
While Elton John expressed gratitude for Trump's support as a longtime fan, attending many of his concerts, he did not endorse him for the upcoming election.
