Do you know what you need in your life...MORE WRESTLING!

That's right! ROH has made it's debut on Honor Club with a new rebrand. Featuring prominent AEW stars like Claudio Castignoli, Eddie Kingston and Wheeler Yuta...The show looks to be a hot one!

But how can ROH continue to grow and maintain success? I have a few thoughts on that!

The first episode was about 2 hours long but there's no real time limit cos its not on tv. I agree with you that the paywall is a huge barrier, its why I haven't watched it yet, whereas if it had bene on YouTube or aew plus on fyte I would have done, but also like how much money do you get for a view on youtube? Like it's probably more cost effective to have 10, 000 paying customers than 1, 000, 000 watching for free. I think honor club not getting ppvs is a bad deal, but I imagine that's tied up in contracts.

Which I think gets to the unanswered question of this video. Which is what counts as a success? What does Khan want ROH to be? Is the aim just a dark type show where wrestlers perform live shows and sell those to hardcore indie fans then that is I think pretty achievable. If they just want another impact or gcw then roh has the best roster of those guys so will be the best of that tier and can probably sustain itself through subscriptions if only for people buying the archive.

If the aim is to create a product to sell to tv, then you need audience figures, in which case making it free is better, but it feels like they have given up on that. If you want ROH to get nxt like figures, that ain't happening, as long as wwe and aew have their act vaguely together. You need late vince level booking at the top two for a third product to start rising that much.

I think there is still an audience for just great wrestling and I can think you can tell stories without the over the top backstage soap opera of something like the bloodline or page vs the elite (the two best stories of the past 5 years, imo, but both tending towards melodrama and that isn't the only way to make people care). So I don't think you need that, so much as you need a buzz, you need a thing that has people going no no actually buy this otherwise again you're stuck in impact territory, and the questions is, is that a failure or is it enough for people, just that roh still exists and is still producing stuff.

CM Punk on ROH will never happen but that's an amazing idea and the exact sort of thing that would produce that buzz.

AEW and ROH are two separate companies (promotions). You can not compere NXT having it's own streaming service to ROH, because NXT is owned by the WWE. ROH is not owned by AEW, that is why he has Honor Club for ROH. The best thing Tony Khan can do is start up a separate streaming service or get a one from WBD that will be the home to both AEW & ROH promotions.
