My first phone was pretty small and I really liked it.
After using android phones for years I decided to move over to iPhone and ordered the 13 mini as my first iPhone. It is still bigger than my very first phone but since it is more powerful than that phone, the size is understandable and I'll still enjoy it.

Upgrading from the iphone X, the 13 with 256 GB storage seems to be the best value for money, Its the best fr the average joe. Not many ppl talk abt the 13, but i feel apple has done a great job with the 13 as it has most of the features of the 12 pro.

One correction though: On Apple's Compare site, actually the 13 Pro has better battery life than the 13.

the 13 Pro battery specs: 22 hrs video, 20 hrs streaming video, 75 hrs audio
the 13 battery specs: 19 hrs video, 15 hrs streaming video, 75 hrs audio.
