Egregores

I have just finished reading Egregores by Mark Stavish, having first heard about it on an Occult of Personality podcast. I found it very interesting and could relate it to one or two of my recent discussions. So, in this video, I first explain why I had not used the word previously, outline the various egregore models, how they are helpful and how they can become a prison. I suggest a technique to avoid being trapped.

For the last 20 years I’ve been saying I’m not a teacher. It confounds people because that’s been my profession for all these years and am quite passionate when on the job but there’s more to me and as you say labels can be used to manipulate, i.e. - As a teacher you should do this, agreed with that, be involved in. The sensation is one pushing back a real entity putting pressure to attach its strings to you and mould you to a specific design and frame of mind. These Egregores may in Fact have 'Consciousness'. A Thought. An Egregore develops a 'Thick Skin' due to its Focus or Worship, becoming more Real or Tangible in the Process. As it Descends or Appears it would seem to Defend 'its' interests much like the Human Cell would [Cytoplasm]. The Human Cell has a Psytophillic and Psytophobic membrane that while acting as a 'Gateway' [coersive re-structuring] can also hold 'Death at its Door'[Nazism-enforced re-structuring] The Cell does all this for a Much Higher Purpose though, namely the Human Being who, also has little inclination of what they may be. Do Egregores in Fact have a Higher Purpose and what are they really. There are many questions including is a Human Cell 'Conscious'. Great Lecture.

This is quite a rabbit hole. Are you familiar with Jane roberts and Seth ? I read Seth speaks when I was very young. This is covered and was my first introduction to "thought forms" . And there's a school of thought, pun intended, lol, that thoight forms can become independent of the creator. Thoughts words ... they don't disappear. This does remind me a lot of Ishmael Reed's work, especially Mumbo Jumbo. Now Reed has a very interesting background in Voodoo religion, but he's creatively expanding and transforming it at the same time as seeming to hold up to traditional values. The phrase "feed the loas" keeps returning throughout the book. But there's not just the old loas in Reed, there's also New Loas like "Jes Grew", the great virus-like entity that makes people dance to Jazz Music and so on. I think it's quite interesting to think about sacrifices and providing food in relation to growing a bubble.

The concept of egregores reminds me a bit of famous atheist Richard Dawkins' idea of "memes" (not the same as we commonly think of today as "memes") as mind-parasites or social-parasites.
Thus, for Dawkins, a cult ideology might be thought of as a conglomeration of related memes that each work together to perpetuate themselves, and which feed off of the energy of believers.
Memes would be to a cult ideology as "selfish" genes (a Dawkins concept) are to an organism.

Dawkins used the term "Middle World" do describe the dominion of the activities of people. Don't particularly like a lot of his other ideas, but that term stuck to an extent.

Thanks for the video, thoroughly enjoyed it. As you identified with the occult and mentioned the Abramelin ritual I really got pulled into your mind in the same manner as you explained, by simple label association. What do you think about the idealogical possession of so many people today, with respect to political correctness, social justice, socialism etc? Is there a remedy for society, as it seems the west is sliding down a tyrannical path at present? After 100’s of Middle Pillar and LBRPs I’m not possessed by such things, yet most people don’t have the luxury of occult initiation. What could be done to repair the social fabric of the west?

Very interesting Ramsey. If you want to investigate cults then may I suggest Jehovah's Witnesses who do all of the things that you mention when someone leaves the cult. I am ex JW and am shunned as are very many others.
