“The biggest victims in the world.“
Hit the nail right on the head with that one.

I dated a girl who used to say "I just want to be in school forever" after her master's she got a job as a librarian at a major university. We aren't really in contact anymore, but it seems like she got to fulfill her dream of being in school forever while also getting paid.

Funny how it’s
“Life got me in debt”
but then she says
“I graduate next month”
Oh! Suddenly you’re doing things. Suddenly you’re responsible for your actions when it’s a good thing? This girl needs accountability… and an accountant, lol.

This is the first time I’m actually really experiencing someone struggling with a staggering amount of student debt. It’s really heartbreaking to think about the financial burden they must be carrying.

My wife has an incoming 50k student debt next year. Our plan is to knock it out in a year. I made it very clear that if she has 50k student debt then she needs to find a 50k/year job.

I had a girlfriend who was a doctor by her 23rd birthday. $260, 000 in debt to be a Doctor of Pharmacy. She doesn’t like working in a pharmacy.

Edit: Loan terms were $267k at 36% for 20 years. Putting that into a loan calculator now outputs a monthly payment of $8, 016.65 for 240 months totaling $1, 923, 996.87, with $1, 656, 996.87 of that total amount paid being interest.

That is terrible. I went to community college then transferred. Worked part time while I went to college/university for 6 years. I walked out with only 20k in student loan debt. Paid it off in 3 years as transitioned into Entry Level IT and worked my way to systems engineering in 4 years.

I hated school and I couldn't afford College. So a blessing in disguise. I did graduated from high school. But I knew I didn't want any more schooling. Which didn't put me in debt. Went directly into the workforce, now I'm 61 still debt free and own a home out right and financial stable. So didn't do bad at all.

My son got two degrees in 4 years at a state university. Two useful degrees he could use as soon as he graduated. He also worked full time to pay for it himself. Total school debt: $0. There is absolutely no reason to be $130, 000+ in debt because you went to school unless the profession you're going into is something that can get you out of debt reasonably quickly because of the average salary.

After my VA money ran out, I withdrew all my classes for my last semester. Kicker was I had to get permission from each professor to drop, just to still pay half out of pocket. They all gave me a hard time..

If you've been going to school for 8+ years and have $130k in debt you BETTER be graduating from med school cuz otherwise there ain't no way you're ever gonna pay that off.

I have an ex g-friend I am so happy I did not get married to. She has been a perpetual student for 30 yrs, just finished her phd in dietary science. She is a huge victim as well...

I was almost a permanent schooler but finally got my degree after almost 8 years. It's a bit embarrassing at first but I finally made up my mind to finish my final courses and put it behind me.

Wait so she has this “car buying issue” it’s leasing cars. On top of that she’s also over $135, 000 in debt. I wonder if ppl like this genuinely need a caretaker or just think filing for bankruptcy is the safety net. News flash, filing for bankruptcy doesn’t just take a week. It’s a whole process and you could get rejected a couple times

Knew ppl like this in school back in the late 90s. They were proud of their 1.5 GPA. Getting several degrees in Under-Water-Basket-Weaving
