Gene Expression | Central Principles of Molecular Biology

Показать описание
When a gene is actively making proteins, or “expressed” it uses DNA as the template to create RNA molecules. This is often referred to as gene expression. The expression of a gene can be measured by counting how many RNA copies for that particular gene are present within a single cell. A gene that is highly expressed will have a large number of these RNA copies and a gene with low expression will have fewer. Genes that are not actively making proteins, or not expressed at all, will have an undetectable amount of RNA related to that specific gene.
