My grandmother was Ukrainian but unfortunately passed away from cancer the year I was born my dad was never taught Ukrainian so I’m trying to learn myself your videos are very good 👍

Pryvit! I am a senior citizen in Canada. Fluent in Ukrainian but my Mama, God Bless her, never swore if you can believe it. At least not while her children were around. This was very informative for me. My Dido often used the katchka or the shliak one but that was it. Never too old to learn, LOL! Great lessons.

When my Ukrainian father was really mad at someone he said Shlak bu trafit tebe! He said it was a curse for lightening to strike you down. It always meant a terrible curse to him as at least one of his family members was struck by lightening. Sometimes he just said Shlak! Was enough to know he was mad and stay

This is always an interesting and important topic so glad to learn about it in Ukrainian! Coincidentally, Dutch has the phrase 'krijg de klere' (креіх ды клиры or /krɛiχ də klɪrə/ in IPA) which is pretty much identical to 'А най би тебе холєра побрала'. Дякую, Інно!

Привіт Інна! Ваші уроки чудові! Вони допомагають мені з уроками. (Дуолінґо уроки). У моєму класі троє українців. Я з Польщі і останнім часом з нами багато Украінців. (sorry for any mistakes, I'm learning Ukrainian, the rest of the comment will be in English) So one Ukrainian girl can speak English but the 2 other Ukrainians can't speak English so I started learning Ukrainian and in September I can speak to them in their native language. (I can't in this school year, because I had Leukemia 2 years ago and I could not go to school, I will go to school in 8th grade) I think that would be really nice to help them in such a horrible situation
