Testing my Minelab Equinox 600 for recovery speed and to see how it detects silver under rusty nail. I'm an inexperienced user with this machine. More testing to come.

Air tests especially ones with the nail / coin test really do not show what any detector will do in the field. There are detectors 15 years old that can pass this test if the coil is swung in the right direction relative to the iron. Even the separation / sweep speed test does not reflect how one sweeps in the field unless you are in competition hunt. It will be interesting to see reports of in-field hunts where targets are intermixed with ferrous in ground matrix as that will be telling how well it unmasks good targets in a sea of iron. We all appreciate the tests but realize that air tests do not equate to in-field performance in all cases

Good test! The hot spot on the coil is somewhat puzzling.

Yup like Andy said any decent machine will pass this test.  Thanks for posting!

Nice video. I wish you would've done full sweeps when doing the nail test. You just did short sweeps to try and hit the coin. The coil should've went past the nails on both sides and back again. Like a normal sweep.

I think that you have a defective coil. As the coil should be hot the entire length of the center bar. Front to back.

Are you kidding me? Wrong options your metal detector for this "test". In ferous is better program Field(2). Read right your manual...for Equinox. And, testing out room, not inside room.
